“And here I thought you only use God’s name when my cock’s inside you.”

If she could shoot bullets with her eyes, I’d be pumped full of them. With both hands, she shoves the Glock in my face.Yes, cara, it’s hard to hold a gun for long. It’s even harder to hold the lives you took with it.

I’m so going to fuck her hard after this.

She blows the strand of hair that sticks to her cheek, a sheen of sweat covering her forehead. “I don’t need a plan.”

“Wrong. First, I am a mob boss. Everyone will have to avenge me, blah, blah, blah. I’m also one of the trio of the Syndicate. Then there are guards posted at the elevator, in the garage . . . everywhere. It’s going to be loud. You need a silencer.”

“Do you have one?” That’s what she takes from me, instead of the threat of retaliation.

“In the closet.”

She dangles the gun in front of me. “Show me.”

“Cara, we didn’t go through your plan. What happens afterward? Are you going to shoot the guards, too?”

She bites down on her lip, brows pinched together. She’s so damn cute, my chest constricts. I want to kiss the fuck out of her.

I scoot up, and she looks sexy with a gun in her tiny hands. In the closet, I open a panel, where an entire arsenal of guns appears. She gasps and approaches them, completely forgetting she should never let her target out of her sight. But I’m still indulging her, whipped idiot.

I take the silencer and tell her how to put it on. She takes her time while I watch her, clicking her tongue inside her cheek. Her face beams when she shows me she did it. If I stay here any longer, I’m taking her right here and now.

“Hey, we’re not done,” she says, remembering her original intent.

I say over my shoulder, “I prefer to die in my bed.”

She scoffs like she’s the one indulging me. I made the right choice with her. Does she even know how fucking bad I have wanted her ever since I saw her? I rest my head against the headboard, and my wife straddles me.

“Ready?”

“Are you asking me?” She won’t be happy when she finds out she also has to load the gun.

“Stop making fun of me.”

“I wouldn’t dare. You’re the one with the gun.”

“I’m going to pull the trigger. Close your eyes.”

“I want you to be the last thing I see.”

She swallows, her pupils going from right to left, showing how torn she is on the inside. And that’s what gives me a modicum of hope.

“It will be a pity, you know?” I arch my brow, and she continues, “You made me do this.”

“We can’t have that. You have to shut that conscience down.”

“Is it hard?”

“After a while, you get used to it.”

“I’m avenging all the others.” Her head sways up and down as if she found the reason she was searching for.

“Cara, I don’t kill innocent people.”

“Still . . .”

“Do you need encouragement?”
