“Cato,” she grumbles, as if I’m the one that drives her mad, but my name pouring out of her mouth in decadent silk and sin undoes me.
“So what happens after?”
“I’m still thinking.”
“Take your time.”
“You’re awfully calm. I will do it, you know.”
“As you’ve already told me.”
She tilts her head. “Why won’t you try to persuade me not to do it?”
It takes everything in me to force my lips into a flat line. I clear my throat. “Because I want it to be your decision. We both know I will make you see every day that you want me.”
For a moment, her eyes darken, her finger itching to pull the trigger.
“Can I have a last kiss?”
“You won’t persuade me to change my mind, even though your kisses make me mad, Cato.”
“Put the gun down, my little firecracker.”
At the endearment, she shakes her head, tears welling up.
“You don’t get it. If I do, then . . .”
With renewed determination, she shoves the gun into my chest, even with her eyes telling me to stop her. But this is her decision. My chest heaves as hers rises and falls in a wild rhythm. I can’t fucking see her in pain.
“Cara?”
“Hmm.”
“It’s empty.”
She gasps, fury replacing the sadness.
“You fucking asshole.”
She actually pulls the trigger this time, but the safety is on.
“Where is it?”
She takes off into the closet, and I run after her. She throws the gun away and picks up a knife. In a flash, she’s in my face, rising up on her toes and placing the knife to my neck. She’s trembling so bad, the blade pricks my skin. Horrified, she drops her hand and takes a step back.
I catch her wrist and she winces, but still she holds on to the knife. I am inches from her face.
“And now it’s my turn.”
She takes off. Smart girl. I swipe at my neck, and blood coats my finger. I crack my neck and chase after her.
We end up in the living room, rounding the couch. I could do this all night long, and I will punish her in the way she loves to hate. By fucking her.
“Cara, give up.”
“Never.”
“The more we do this, the worse it will be for you.” I’ll make her come so hard and often, she’ll feel me between her legs for fucking days. She must see the mad lust possessing me.
