Page 66 of Sinner's Perdition

I stand up, button up my suit jacket, and leave. I’ve lived years without this woman, and yet, I can’t go without her for more than a day. This is not fucking good.

Back at the compound, I demand news about our two most recent pains in the ass, Sergio and Hayden Carrera. We can’t find any dirt about him, which is suspicious in itself. He’s more of a ghost, acting from the shadows, and my gut tells me there’s something more to him than wanting to do business with the Syndicate. But there’s nothing new on either, which makes me feel on the edge with the loss of total control.

And who the fuck is this mysterious guy of Aurora’s? Kieran’s too lenient with her. I would have found out by now.Yeah, right, you won’t even go to your own home because of your wife...all to make a point.

My men update me and let me know Chiara went to an exclusive craft shop yesterday and hasn’t gone out again.

I slide my phone back inside my suit pocket.

“We found a lead,” Rowan, our IT expert, informs me.

Fucking finally.

After getting the info from Rowan, I call my cousin. “He’s in Italy. Take the jet, find Sergio and make sure it’s him.”

“On it.”

Cameron steps inside.

“We’re on him.” I raise the file on Hayden. “Now, what about him?”

“We have his money. He won’t do anything reckless.”

His eyes turn darker. The thing with Cameron is, he’s lethal. Charming on the surface, a monster simmering below that. While Kieran and I don’t give a fuck what people think, Cameron lets them believe he’s a respected citizen. Fools.

I sleep at the compound for the second night. I hit the pillow, fucking missing Chiara.

My phone pings with a message from her that makes my day.

This house is so much better without you in it.

Watch out, cara. I might think you miss me.

I just rejoice in my power over you, driving you away.

This woman. I call her. “Is that so?”

“You can stay away and never return, for all I care.”

“I’m coming home.”

“No.”

“Well, then you shouldn’t have taunted me. And I hope you’re not sore, because you’re getting fucked.”

She gasps, and I hang up. My spirits elevate. This woman will be my perdition. It has a ring to it. A sinner’s perdition.

I drive with tunnel vision, eagerness pumping up my insides.

When I step inside the penthouse, I tug at my collar. The rational part in me says to turn around but my dick has other plans.

I chuckle when I turn the knob to the bedroom, only to find it locked.

“That was not an invitation, you asshole.” Her voice is thick with annoyance. My wife is in a mood.

“Honey, I’m home.”

“Honey, go fuck yourself.”
