He climbs up the ledge and picks up his pace, hauling me away like a bag of trash. “Ridge Foster, I am going tokillyou.”

“Then you’re gonna do it in private with your fucking shirt on.” His voice is laced with malice and I’m certain his downright pissed.

“You have no right!”

“I have every right!” he shouts back even louder.

His hand moves from my back and he kicks open one of the French doors of the Delta Chi House.

“Let me go, asshole! We’re not even supposed to be in here!”

He doesn’t respond, nor does he set me down. Instead, he walks briskly down the narrow hall.

“Ridge!” I hear Scar shout as she enters the door we just came through. I lift up and look over my shoulder to see her and Crew coming toward us at full speed. Crew’s clad with clenched fists and a smoldering glare. It’s a look I’ve seen before, and not one I care to see right now.

“Put her down now!” Crew hollers.

Still, Ridge just keeps walking, as if no one is on our trail. His shoulders tighten and rise and he holds me closer, his arm snug around my muddy ass and his hand gripping my outer thigh.

I watch intently as Crew jogs to catch up, and once he does, he jumps in front of Ridge. “Put her the fuck down.”

Ridge sweeps one hand out and shoves Crew hard into the wall. He bounces right off of it and lunges at Ridge, who is forced to loosen his hold on me. I slide down his back, feet catching on the floor before trying to position myself between them.

I slide my arms into the sleeves of Ridge’s leather jacket and close it over my chest to hide my breasts. “Stop, you guys…”

My words trail off when Crew punches Ridge square in the eye. Like a complete psychopath, Ridge just stands there and takes it with a smirk on his face. Crew wraps his hands around Ridge’s waist and brings him down to the floor. His back hits with a thud that has me wincing. Ridge doesn’t even fight back. In fact, I’m sure I heard him laugh through the pain being inflicted on him.

“Stop!” I shout, while attempting to pull Crew off of Ridge. “I’m okay,” I tell him, hoping he ends this madness. I know he’s doing this for me, and for Scar. I’m sure she told the guys to help me. But I don’t need help.

Scar grabs a hold of me and pulls me back, wrapping her arms around my front and holding the jacket closed. “It’s time Ridge gets what’s coming to him, babe.”

“No,” I cry out. “He was just protecting me from prying eyes. I don't want him to get hurt.”

“Ry! He carried you away like he owns you, even when you told him to stop. After everything he’s done to you, he deserves this. He’s a fucking sicko.”

Crew lands two hard blows on Ridge’s face and I beg and plead for him to stop—for someone to make him stop.

Then Ridge’s tired eyes meet mine.

Suddenly, as if he just got a boost of adrenaline, Ridge grabs Crew and flips him over. Crew’s back crashes against the floor and Ridge gains the upper hand.

With his fist cocked back, he looks at me again.

“No.” I shake my head. “Please don’t.”

He drops his hand and leans down, whispering something in Crew’s ear that has his eyes widening.

“Let go of me!” I squirm out of Scar’s arms and drop to my knees beside Ridge, who’s bleeding from his lip and his one eye is already swelling. Tears fall recklessly from my eyes and my heart pangs with such a deep agony.

Lifting my head slightly, I look at Scar. “He might be a sicko, but he’s a sicko who would move heaven and earth for me.”

Ridge has tormented me, instilled fear inside me, made me cry, and made me wanna hide, but he’s the one person who isalwaysthere.

“I’m okay,” Ridge chokes out, blood running down his face as he tries to sit up. I push him back down gently, knowing it’s too soon for him to try and stand.

Soon, we’re surrounded by students, including angry girls who are pissed at the bloody mess made in the hallway.

Scar apologizes, and while I’m still so angry at her for siccing Crew on Ridge, I understand why she did it.
