She scurries away then blows him a kiss, and the second she turns her head, he flips her off and laughs with his friends.

Stupid fucking girl.

As I step outside, I slide on a pair of shades. It’s a cloudy day—in fact, I’m pretty sure they’re calling for snow. But the insanity I wear on the outside matches what I feel on the inside. I feel fucking crazy.

I jog up to his side, then throw an arm around his neck. “What’s up, Cade?”

He ducks and tries to free himself from my arm, but I squeeze tighter. I retrieve my gun from the pocket of my coat and dig it into his rib cage. “Make a scene. I dare you.”

I don’t look at his face as we walk side by side, my new friend and me. He’s likely pale. Probably a little horror-stricken. That thought excites me.

Cade mumbles off words, begging for mercy, but all I can think about is the fact that this son of a bitch dipped his fingers intomypussy.

We hit the pavement of the parking lot and keep walking, weaving through parked cars, almost getting hit by a couple moving ones.

“What drug did you feed her, Cade?”

“Who? What drug? I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. I swear, man. I didn’t do anything.”

I dig the gun deeper as we approach the woods. “Flunitrazepam? GHB? Or was it just your everyday sleeping pill?”

“I don’t even know what those pills are. You’ve got the wrong guy.”

Taking a shortcut down the trail, I keep him close with the gun engaged. “I don’t think I do. Tell me, how tight was her pussy? You touched it before I did, so I’m curious. How many fingers were you able to get in?”

“Who are you talking about?”

“I don’t like games, Cade. You know exactly who I’m talking about. Do you remember the day I broke that nose of yours? As I was leaving your room, you said,‘I’ve always craved what I’m told I can’t have. Challenge accepted.’Did you or did you not say that?”

“I…I don’t remember.”

I click the safety on the gun with a sweep of my thumb and he trembles. “Maybe that’ll jog your memory.”

“Okay. Okay. I remember saying that, but I was pissed. You’d just broken my nose. I didn’t mean anything by it.”

“I’m gonna be honest with you, Cade. We can do this the easy way. Or we can do it the hard way. But either way, it’s getting done.”

Maddox is parked right where I told him to be. He’s wearing a black ski mask, being more inconspicuous than I am. He’s not a fan of this shit. Maddox is a good guy. But he’s beating himself up for letting this happen. After all, his assignment was to keep an eye on the Kappa Rho brothers, and one of them fucked up royally. His saintly ass will probably never forgive himself. I’m not sure I’ll forgive myself, either. I should have been there. Should’ve protected her from this dipshit.

Maddox gets out of the car when he sees us approaching and opens up the back door with his glove-covered hands.

Cade panics, crying like a little bitch. “Who’s that? Where are we going? Please. I didn’t do anything.”

Dislodging the gun from his side, I throw him in the back seat, then point it right back at him before sliding in beside him.

Maddox slams his foot on the gas, leaving a trail of black smoke behind us.

I keep the gun pointed at Cade as I press for answers that I know he won't give. “When she called you by my name, what went through your head?”

His head jerks and trembles, and I’m sure he’s in a state of shock right now, which makes him useless to me.

A couple short minutes later, we pull up to the old brick building that will be Cade’s home for a while. At least until he decides to cooperate. It’s only a short walk from campus, but considering I’m kidnapping a guy, I figured a ride was necessary.

The old structure sits at the end of a desolate industrial drive, but while it appears abandoned from the outside, one small space on the inside is frequently occupied.

Lev comes walking out the door, making no attempt to hide his identity from his cousin. We're alike in that way. Both don’t give a fuck. Both fucked up.

Maddox opens the door for us, then we part ways for now. He agreed to be our driver. He refused to handle weapons and was adamant about not entering the building.
