"I was being friendly. I don't bite. Right, Jess?"

I swallow the anger that begins to rise to the surface. Bitch. She loves to mention that day with Garret and Melissa. It was her games and my stupidity that ruined my freshman year, but she doesn't let that shit go. Everything is a game to her for whatever reason.

"Aww, Veronica. I thought you would have been over it by now. Are you not tired of trying to get the juice between my legs? It has been what…three years?"

She licks her lips like she just saw a juicy steak." She is insufferable but turns her face to address Reid instead.

"Don't worry, Reid. I won't ruffle her feathers, but I think it looks like she’d rather have a big dick pluck them out of her." She slides out of the booth. "Someone more likable, more prestigious," she continues leaning close, and Reid’s eyes harden. Because she is mentioning Garret from that night and everyone knows that I have slept with him and Valen. "Not an uptight asshole with an arranged marriage hanging over his head."

Reid's jaw tics, and he clenches his teeth. "Leave. You got what you wanted." She snickers, walking away.

"Dude, it is a shame she is like that. I wonder what happened to her?" One of the twins says, and I'm assuming it's Dravin. The other twin has his hands laced through Gia's fingers studying me.

Reid has an arranged marriage to someone? I have a gut feeling it is to the woman I saw in his hotel that night. It is the only one he has ever paid attention to in that way. The only one that has the balls to come up to him the way she did. An ex-flame my ass.

I feel hurt by his failure to mention that piece of information before sinking his cock inside me. I look away, trying to convince myself that she can have him and she will, apparently.

I'm sure Valen has a similar agreement. I was right in turning him down the other day. I purse my lips and look at the entrance to the bar. My beer appearing in front of me when it slides over the glossy wood table from the waiter. I turn it in a circle, looking at the mask printed on the bottle like it's speaking to me. My secret.

"What are you thinking about?" Reid asks as he takes Veronica's spot next to me.

From the corner of my eye, I take my fill at how attractive Reid is. I like the tattoos on his skin and the smell of his cologne. The way his lashes always look like they are darkened with mascara, but I know they are natural.

I'm unsure why I'm drawn to him the way I am and can't shake it off. I'm still trying to figure it out. I'm trying to make sense of the emotions I buried after the first time I slept with him.

"Nothing. Me and Gia were catching up before Veronica announced your upcoming nuptials."

I feel him tense and I sense that wasn't supposed to be said and not many people know about it, or at least I wasn't supposed to know about it. A wave of hurt filters inside me because I loved how he made me feel in his arms, even if he was promised to another the whole time. I'm such a tramp. I let him fuck me in the elevator while his soon-to-be wife was downstairs on the first floor. I’m disgusted with myself. It’s one thing to have sex with him or even with Valen, but not when they are promised to be married to someone else. I can also overlook the fact that he hasn’t contacted since he dropped me off at the dorm.

"I think I better get going. I have class in the morning and I need to study if I plan to pass any of my classes and graduate, so I can get out of here." I give Gia a fake smile.

Gia's lips form a thin line and when she looks up, her eyes soften. "Are you sure?"

I sigh. "Yeah, I better get going. Thanks for meeting me. You two take care of my friend, okay?"

"Always," the twins answer at the same time. I push the untouched beer away from me and collect my things.

"You need a ride," Reid says, getting out to let me slide out as well.

"That's okay, I know my way back."

"I wasn't asking. I was telling."

* * *

I follow Reid out back because it is better than going against him, refusing his offer and running into Michael. No one needs to know about him because it doesn't matter. My plan with the sons of Kenyan looking out for me is unraveling fast. Michael has me exactly where he wants me. Trapped.

Reid unlocks his fancy sports car. The cold air whipping my unruly hair while he opens the door for me. "Curly today," he says, before closing the door and walking around to the driver's side and sliding in the driver's seat. "I like it."

He is probably trying to flatter me because he fucked up. Typical guy move. He pulls out of the parking lot and turns in the opposite direction. I furrow my brows and ask, "Where are you taking me? The dorms are in the opposite direction."

"I'm taking you to eat. You haven't had dinner, have you?"

He is right, but it's nothing a good vending machine on the first floor of the dorms can't fix. I'm used to it by now, being on a strict budget.

I nervously slide my hands between my thighs. "I'm good."

"Liar," he teases.
