“Soon, Sprinkles,” she whispered, feeling her heart thump wildly in her chest and hearing his laugh.

“I should have thought more about that nickname. That’s soooo incredibly unsexy.”

“I like it – and it’s us.”

“Then that’s all that matters, my precious bunny.”

“Awww,” she gushed, melting at how sweet and romantic he was.

“I’ve gotta go, hon. Two weeks. We can do this and then I’ll be home.”

“Two weeks will fly by.”

“I hope so.”

“I’ll see you soon.”

“Get some rest.”

“I will.”

The phone call disconnected moments later, and she slumped down in her bed, unable to wipe the stupid smile from her face. He was giving her pet names, endearments, talking about how he couldn’t wait to see her, and how he wanted to make love to her.

This was all so insane, so crazy, to think that fate had put her in the right spot, at the right time, to meet the man of her dreams – and she had been lucky enough to marry him.

CHAPTER12

RICOCHET

This was quite the experience…Killian thought wildly, realizing just what a mess he’d gotten himself into. He thought that he was flying into town with Paradox and going straight home – only to discover that Maestro was also flying back… permanently. His parents were already in town and would be there when they arrived, for Thanksgiving celebration two days early.

The two days that he planned on spending in the arms of his wife!

Apparently, his sister had coordinated all of this to a day that everyone would have off. Her office was closed for the holiday, Mallory was off of work and had to work on Thanksgiving, his parents would be there by now, and to top it all off?

Maestro’s grandma was picking them up at the airport – which meant he was getting robbed of his homecoming kiss from Destiny, too. This was not how any of this was supposed to go, in the slightest… and because he hadn’t informed anyone about his wife yet, other than the two guys he was traveling with?

Nobody understood what a pain this was to him… and he’d called Destiny in a rush from the airport to explain this whole fiasco that was being shoved down his throat. Yeah, he was in a bit of a mood right now, and felt like this massive clock was looming over his shoulder, ticking loudly.

He had five days with his wife – and one was already being commandeered by family for the sake of gluttony… which normally he would thoroughly enjoy.

“It’s alright, Killian,” Destiny had told him, in that sweet, easy-going manner that was just so her.

It wasn’t ‘alright’ in the slightest. Their canvas duffle bags were crammed painfully tight into the trunk of Maestro’s grandmother’s car – a Mercury Topaz. He wasn’t sure you could get a smaller vehicle to ride in… and the mouth on that woman was shocking.

“Young’un,” she said, addressing Maestro. “Why didn’t you tell me you were going to have me carting around a couple of sexy studs? I would have worn something a little easier to slip out of…”

“Nana,” Maestro said nervously, glancing at Killian’s shocked face and Paradox’s glare. “These are my friends.”

“This boy looks like he’d spank me and enjoy it immensely,” she uttered, pointing her cane at Paradox, before swinging it to Killian – who instantly braced himself. “And you? You’re a cuddler, aren’t you? I bet you blush or say, ‘Thank you’ in bed, don’t you, Blondie?”

“Nana – please…”

“Dude, this is… yourgrandma?” Killian asked candidly, feeling extremely uncomfortable.

“What’s it going to take to end this conversation right now?” Paradox said bluntly, looking at the elderly woman who was licking her lips and gawking at the two of them.

“What do you have to offer, big fella?”
