“It’s nice to meet everyone,” she said openly – and meant it.

Hours later,Destiny was laughing and pushing a cart to the front of the store… almost like a train. Each woman had a cart, filled with items that they needed or wanted to pick up for either the house, Christmas, or even some groceries, at the Super Target.

Killian texted to see how she was doing – and she sent him back a selfie holding up a pink and blue baby pajama that was on clearance. She picked up a book of baby lullabies that had the music sheets inside to surprise Killian, along with those Bluetooth speakers she had thought about before, some white t-shirts to take back to Afghanistan, along with a battery pack for his phone, and headphones that wrapped around a small clip to be stored easily.

She felt weird buying so many things, but if she turned out to be pregnant next month – thenthatwas her Christmas present to her and to Killian.

She didn’t need anything else.

Picking up a pregnancy test, Sophie looked at her and smiled before leaning down to kiss Ben’s head.

“We have a few at home, because you just never know. We’ve been trying the last two times Ryan has come home and it hasn’t happened yet – but that’s okay. We certainly love our moments with Ben.”

“He’s beautiful.”

“Thank you,” Sophie smiled – and yawned. “Sorry. We are both kinda worn out from getting up early. I know that this can be a lot, to suddenly be part of a huge family… but if you ever need anything or to relax a bit? Don’t be a stranger.”

“I appreciate that.”

“And good luck,” Sophie smiled, pointing at the test and moving to pick up a package of sanitary napkins just down the aisle from where Destiny was standing.

The train of carts slowly made their way to the front and Harley started laughing in awareness as she turned and looked at the line of women. Destiny looked at the seven carts lined up and the two others walking up behind her… and also began chuckling.

“Who arranged this fiasco?” Emily said bluntly. “Everything is not going to fit in two minivans. Karen, can you call Jace and tell him to come get us? I bought John a surround sound system that was a Black Friday Special and he can’t see it.”

“Uh, noooo?” Karen scoffed. “I got Jace a PlayStation 5 – and he can’t see it. Glory, call Alpo…”

“Negatory,” the woman frowned. “I got the twins a Hot Wheels car to play with in the back yard, and Hunter his big screen television. He’s been wanting one for years now and I’m finally biting the bullet. He has no idea and I’m not going to spoil it for him – in fact – it’s going to Harley’s house to hide it from him.”

“Harley…”

“Nope. I have the van and the car seat. Jackson’s with Samantha.”

“Delilah?”

“Yeah, I’m good,” she laughed. “I’ll call Cody and tell him to get one of the cars from Flyboys instead of the truck we were borrowing from Valkyrie.”

“I can call Killian,” Destiny volunteered.

“Melody? Can Firefly pick you up?”

“Only if someone can take the Barbie Dream House for Betsy and I’ll swap carts with them?”

“I can do that,” Sophie volunteered.

“Okay – slowly making room…” Emily laughed nervously. “We’ll manage somehow.”

Destiny was already dialing Killian and he answered on the first ring.

“What’s wrong, Bunny? Are you okay?”

She sighed openly and closed her eyes dreamily, only to hear a few chuckles near her and saw the women looking at her with knowing smiles.

“I love that you watch out for me – you know that?”

“You hold precious cargo,” he said tenderly. “My heart, my reason for living, – and possibly my child.”
