“I’m just glad we have a privacy fence,” she laughed.

“Me too,” he grinned. “Why don’t we have our coffee out here, before it gets too warm, and we can talk.”

“That sounds great.”

“I’ll go get us fresh cups… have a seat, my love.”

They sat out there and she smiled in amazement as he talked, combined with his excitement. He grabbed the flour canister from the kitchen and was sprinkling it in the yard like a wild man since she didn’t have any spray-paint cans.

Wiping her eyes, laughing obnoxiously, she smiled at him.

“Look, bunny,” he said happily. “You’ve got to be able to picture it with me, and I think this would work great. The plumbing is a straight-shot to a new bathroom and would be no problem at all. It could be framed up, tied to the roof-line, and fit perfectly.”

“Killian… this is insane,” she smiled.

“So was marrying someone you knew less than a few hours – but I am crazy-happy about us, and can’t wait to soak in a tub with my delectable wife.”

He continued sprinkling her baking flour on the grass… and then pulled her towards him.

“Walk with me and imagine…” he urged, putting his back against the wall of the house – with her directly at his side. “I think we should put the entrance on this side and come through the wall here.”

“Okay,” she prompted, stepping forward with him.

“I think if we put a toilet here – and a small sink over here? Then that leaves the entire back wall for the bathtub. I can do the framing myself, so all we have to do is hire a plumber and electrician, get the permits, and we can start hunting for a massive bathtub for us.”

“This is going to be a lot of money…”

“This is something we would doonce,” he countered. “We do it the way we truly want it, then it’s not that bad. Besides, the time I spend with you is priceless, and I just got a raise – remember?”

“A tub that fits two,” she smiled.

“Yes,” he agreed. “Can you imagine evenings together? A glass of wine, candles, back rubs, and talking while we soak…”

“One of us having to get out and go feed the baby or change a diaper?” she prompted, raising an eyebrow and trying to be argumentative… but failing.

“I could get out – change the baby – and bring her to join us.”

She met his eyes, saw his smile, and could imagine it all. She could practically see Killian over her shoulder, kissing her neck and just being close, her holding the baby against her legs safely above the water line, letting the child splash… and hesitated.

“This…”

“This is us, building our home, our dreams, and giving of ourselves to make sure the people we care for most feel treasured, loved, and a part of ourselves. Each moment is so brief sometimes,” he whispered.

“I will blink and be back in Afghanistan, blink again and we’ll be parents. If I blink too much then our infant will be a toddler, then a child, and those precious memories, those chances, will have passed…” he chuckled softly, looking at her openly. “This new Daddy only gets to soak with Mommy and baby for a very small blip in time… or things get very weird and highly inappropriate fast.”

“I see your point,” Destiny laughed nervously. “So, this needs to happen fast, doesn’t it?”

“It does,” he smiled. “Wanna go tub shopping later tonight?”

“A bathtub?”

“If I mention construction, saws, and beer…? I’ll have eight to ten guys here in no time helping frame things. The electrician and plumber would have to come later – unless one of the guys can tap into the plumbing.”

“Are you sure – and it will be safe?”

“Positive.”

She looked at him, her eyes searching his, seeing his complete faith and unwavering determination. Smiling, she hugged his arm and looked at him.
