“Can it be painted pink and be a girly bathroom?”

“Of course,” he said tenderly, putting his finger under her chin and turning her face upward to him, kissing her softly. “Maybe we can get a little sparkly fixture for the ceiling that will cast little flecks of light all over the wall.”

“You don’t mind?”

“Do you mind that I want us to have a private bathroom – a haven?”

“No…”

“Then consider it done,” he promised. “I’ll get it handled as quickly as possible…”

“But safely,” she urged pointedly.

“Absolutely,” he agreed. “My heart and soul are here – and I want to make sure both of my girls are safe.”

“You keep insisting, don’t you,” she chuckled, hugging him again. “I swear, you will be disappointed if it turns out to be a boy.”

“Are you kidding?” he scoffed, laughing and pulling her back towards the house. “I will have a beautiful son to be proud of – and then I get to keep making love to my incredible wife so we can eventually have a little girl.”

“You get to do that anyway, mister…” she teased, jogging ahead of him and taking the lead, tugging him towards the bedroom. “Now, we should probably start getting ready for the baby shower.”

“Nuh-uh,” he disagreed, tugging up her pajama t-shirt she slept in that reached her knees. “I want to hold my wife again before I have to be on my best behavior… and we can be fashionably late.”

“Killian,” she chuckled.

“What?” he countered softly, kissing and nuzzling her neck, before touching her belly. “You aren’t interested?”

“I guess we’ll be late,” she said breathlessly.

“Darn straight…”

They wereall supposed to meet at Dixie’s café for a combination late lunch/baby shower and party… and she requested a small cake for Killian and her to share – with sprinkles, naturally.

She felt weird having a party that felt like it was silently saying, ‘gimme gifts,’ but wanted a chance to celebrate with all of their friends and get together.

As they arrived, Destiny was immediately enveloped in the throng of their friends, being hugged and passed around physically by every person in the room – including the children.

Each one of the kids walked up to her with a flower, creating a bouquet, and it was so sweet to see the little toddlers handing her flowers. She made sure to kneel down, greeting each one, giving them a big hug and making a huge event of each flower received.

As she stood up, Killian was right there helping her to her feet, and she smiled with embarrassment as she realized that it would be a whole lot tougher to do this later on.

She was wearing a blue and white button up stretchy blouse that draped nicely over her stomach, feeling almost pretty right now as Glory gave her a bright yellow satin sash to wear.

The woman then gave the children yellow party hats as music started playing. The coffee was flowing, along with juice, and someone had a margarita maker crushing ice, sharing drinks.

She was sitting at a table nearby, talking with Everly and Delilah when suddenly the music stopped. Everyone stopped talking and she turned to see Killian standing there – with Dixie and Karen.

All three were smiling.

“Uh… is everything okay?”

“I did a thing – and I don’t want you to be upset with me,” Killian began nervously and she hesitated, setting down her coffee cup. He turned and addressed their friends, speaking loudly…

“So, all of you know that I met and married this incredible woman,” he started, and she felt tears sting her eyes as she realized that he was openly talking, professing his love before all of their friends, just so she felt special and felt valued. “She’s got such a big heart, so much quiet strength, that she’s my rock when I need her, my best friend, and hopefully forgives me…”

Uh oh… she thought wildly, still listening and remaining utterly still.
