“You had a fifty/fifty chance of being right.”

“Bunny, I’m right eight-five percent of the time,” he bragged, laughing openly and then shaking his head. “No, I’m not, but I was sincerely hoping it would be a sweet girl with your disposition.”

“That’s the agreement,” she laughed, hugging him again. “Your eyes, my teeth…”

Everly laughed beside her.

“… And the rest can be whatever, so long as she’s healthy.”

“Exactly.”

“A girl,” Killian said joyfully, dropping to place a kiss on Destiny’s stomach, not caring who was watching as he jerked up her shirt and kissed the stretchy panel on her pregnancy pants… causing everyone to laugh again as Caleb protested loudly.

“Uh oh! Uncle ‘Lillin kissy da’ big ol’ belly! Wookie, Daddy. It’s a BIG belly!”

Killian laughed against her belly – and looked up at her, his dark eyes dancing with unbridled joy and affection.

“I love our world,” he said tenderly.

CHAPTER21

RICOCHET

Killian awokeat the crack of dawn the next morning and carefully extracted himself from Destiny’s arms, where he’d slept comfortably against his beautiful wife’s swollen belly. She was completely out and that was a relief, because he was going to get started on making her dream bathroom on the house.

He’d talked to the guys, pulled in as many hands as he could, and they in turn called in a few favors. There was a builder coming to help them, an electrician was going to come by tomorrow – along with a plumber. The bathtub would be available to pick up late tomorrow or Friday… and he wanted to get it installed before he left.

Which meant the framework and building was going up immediately. As he slid into the car, he called Firefly.

“Sup, big daddy…” the man answered the phone brightly. “I was just loading up my table saw and tools. You ready to rock-n-roll?”

“Are you sure you don’t mind helping?”

“Dude, I have been doing construction and odd jobs on my house for over a year now. Every time I finish a project, there’s another that crops up that we want done. I do not mind in the slightest, and getting quite good at building things.”

“Thank you,” Killian said openly. “I’m on my way to Home Depot to rent a truck and buy some wood.”

“Don’t bother with the truck,” Firefly chuckled. “Valkyrie is already on his way there and likes Starbucks… hint, hint. The dude has a sweet tooth, and likes Frappuccinos ever since Marisol brought him one.”

“Good to know,” Killian laughed. “I’ll make a Starbucks run for everyone.”

“Thumper and Alpo are getting some wrenches from the hangar before swinging by Home Depot to get backerboard for the tile. We’ll have this done in no time flat, my brother… don’t you worry! Get the wood, then we’ll make a trip to get a sink and toilet tomorrow.”

“Thank you.”

“Hey… it’s nothing. We take care of each other, and I’ll be calling you someday for help.”

“And you’ll have it with zero hesitation.”

“I know – and I appreciate that. This is just what we do.”

“Amen to that, brother.”

“Oh! And word of advice?”

“Yeah?”

“We need to send Destiny packing over to my farm to get some veggies, eggs, and whatever else she wants… just get her out of the house, dude, because women do not take it well when you take a massive saw to the side of their house. Trust me on this one,” Firefly chuckled again. “Melody was sobbing and freaking out.”
