They both chuckled easily and then relaxed together for a few moments.

“So, what are we going to name her?”

“Let’s see,” Destiny began. “There was always an Ann, Amelia, Bethany…”

“No. No… and no.”

“Catherine?”

The baby kicked – hard, causing her to jump slightly.

“Ohh Catherine… the great,” Killian joked. “We both get our say then. I can call her ‘great’ and she gets keychains, thimbles, or dumb coffee mugs.”

“I like Catherine. It’s pretty.”

“It’s long, awfully proper, and a little stodgy.”

“Did you really just say, ‘stodgy’?” she chuckled. “How about Catherine – but we call her Cate?”

“Oooh,” he cooed appreciatively. “Cate the Great. I love it. Cate Briscoe. Man, that sounds SOOO good. It’s fierce and strong. What about a middle name?”

“Don’t laugh,” Destiny warned, smiling at him.

“No laughing, I promise.”

“What do you think about your sister’s name – for her middle name?”

“Seriously?”

“I adore her – and she’s family. I would like to give her something that ties her to her auntie, something that makes her feel included yet special. I didn’t have that growing up and…”

“Cate Everly Briscoe – or Catherine Everly Briscoe,” Killian interrupted softly, testing the name. “It’s very long, strong name, and I love it. It sounds like she would be a force to be reckoned with.”

“Of course,” Destiny replied impishly. “She’s a Briscoe and has her daddy pushing and supporting her from the sidelines. How could she be anything elsebutstrong?”

“I love you,” he said tenderly, kissing her.

CHAPTER23

DESTINY

Four months later…

“Hey!”Destiny began answering the phone quickly in excitement. She had begun shipping Killian calling cards once a month, sending four at a time, just so they could have ‘date night’ every weekend without worrying about if the precious calling cards were in stock at the exchange.

… Plus, he wanted frequent updates on how she was doing – and boy did she have an update for him!

“Hey Bunny,” Killian said easily. “How are you feeling sweetheart?”

“I feel better than I probably should,” she laughed easily. “You should probably fly home.”

“Oh?”

“Yeah, my water broke last night unexpectedly, and you probably have three frantic emails from Alex or Everly telling you to get on the next…”

“WHAT?!?”

Destiny winced and met Alex’s tired gaze as he sat beside her on the chair. Her brother-in-law had been great about the entire thing, considering Everly had just gone home with her own bundle of joy a week beforehand.
