“So you weren’t the ring leader after all.”

“Of course I wasn’t,” he spat. “Why don’t you just take me out and kill me already?”

“Well that’s not much of a punishment, is it?” I replied. “I heard all the misdeeds you were accused of and believe me, this is not even close to punishment enough for you.”

“And you’re the judge, jury and executioner, are you?” he asked me. He was getting irritated.

Good.

That’s when the truth came out.

“You bet your ass I am,” I said.

“I’m not saying a damn thing. Why would I? You’d only kill me anyway.”

“Maybe not,” I lied. “Maybe, depending on how good your information was, I’d let you go free so long as you don’t come near my city again.”

His eyes widened, almost as if he were taking in the information. A spark came back and I saw him move his legs down off the cot. He contemplated getting off it and coming closer but I doubted he had the energy. I didn’t feed him near enough to keep him alert.

“What do you need?”

“Who am I going after?”

“You don’t go after him,” he said. “He comes after you. Trust me, you don’t want him coming to this city.”

“And why not?”

“It’s not someone you mess with,” he said. “Believe me, he’s scary and powerful.”

“So am I,” I growled at him.

“You’ve got nothing on this guy,” Jack told me.

“What’s the operation called?” I pushed.

“Scythe,” he said. “The organization is called Scythe.”

“Thank you,” I said as I moved away. He ran for the bars, clutching onto them for dear life.

“No,” he screamed. “You promised.”

I turned back to him once I got to the stairs. “I did no such thing. You really ought to listen better.”

Heading up to the pathway again, I could hear his screams. Screams I hadn’t heard from him in a long time. He was utterly terrified.

I made a move to send a message to Percy with the name I’d been given. I’d never heard of it before but that didn’t mean it wasn’t powerful and needed to be dealt with carefully.

Paisley

My restraints were taken off my hands and the one named Ben was helping me up. The one named Rusty was keeping a huge distance between us. Maybe he was the one I nailed with my shin before.

“Boss wants to have dinner with you,” Ben said. “Would you prefer a dress or something else to wear?”

“Dress,” I said, uneasily. “But make it a flowy one, I plan on eating a lot of your boss’s food.”

Ben smirked as he nodded. “Don’t run again. Believe me, you don’t want three of us crash tackling you.”

I nodded, feeling a little more comfortable with all of them around me. I didn’t feel the need to run. Halen didn’t present a huge threat to me, unless you considered taking me away from an overbearing mother and a man whose hunger for my pussy was growing by the day, a threat.
