He looked at her and laughed. “Huh. You are a complicated creature. Come with me. You need to learn about our world far beyond our designations. I will introduce you to my wife, and you can discuss things with her.”

He started walking away with her, and the researcher stumbled beside them. “Sir... uh... Your Highness, you can’t take her out of the facility.”

The man holding her turned and grinned down at the researcher. “Why can’t I?”

“We have tests to run.”

“You ran your tests today. She is coming with me and will reside at my home with all the guards that are necessary.”

“You can’t have her guarded by alphas. When her scent comes in, they will be thrown into rut. If she goes into heat before things get organized, there will be chaos.”

The president smiled and settled her on the crook of his arm, which made her higher than his head. “Himyana is pregnant. Her scent will keep Omega Yten Lyra calm.”

He looked at the researcher. “You may come and check on her every two days. She needs to learn about our society, and that is best done with actual citizens.” He chuckled. “When there are enough possible mates that she approves of, we will arrange an Omega Run, and from there, we will determine the first two that will have her as a mate.”

Lyra listened to their discussion, and she was simply carried out of the facility, tucked into an armoured vehicle with the president, and it floated loose of its mooring and headed toward the city far below.

“Don’t worry, Yten Lyra. You are safe.”

She looked around with wide eyes at their path and the sky around them. “People are flying!”

“Of course. How do you think we can tell who is an alpha? They develop skills beyond that of betas, and the bodies finish evolving later.”

She looked at him and said, “Why don’t you sign me up for the same social studies and history you would give a child beginning education? I am learning how a world works, and working it from what I see to try and guess at the origins is just going to make me make mistakes.”

The president smiled. “So, the idea of the additional talents is not unfamiliar to you.”

“They were the stuff of fiction and entertainment.” Lyra realized her speech patterns were changing.

He laughed. “Perhaps that is what drew your consciousness here.”

She sat up on her knees and looked out the window at the city filled with ground transport and tiny betas walking from building to building. If it weren’t for the skin tones, people flying, and vehicles flying, it could be any city on Earth.

Lyra looked over at the man who was catching up on correspondence on a tablet, his gold skin and pointed ears. This definitely wasn’t Earth. So, what was going to happen to her now?

Chapter Two

The transport landed in a large garden, and a guard stepped forward to open the door. The president got out ahead of her and then turned back to beckon to her. “You are safe here, Yten Lyra.”

“Why keep the Yten ahead of my name?”

“Your entire generation is known as Yten. The previous attempts were Ytall and Ywon. Neither of those batches had a successful omega. I wanted to get you away from the researchers so that they didn’t test you until you were destroyed.”

She swallowed and scooted toward him. “How long am I staying here?”

“Until you are in heat or until the alphas know you exist. Once that happens, there will be a pile here at the residence. They will gather and fight for the chance to meet you.”

She stepped out of the vehicle but didn’t touch him. He raised his brows.

“You have a mate, and mates get funny about the scent of another woman on their male. Pregnant women have keen senses.”

“I have already carried you.”

“Ah, right. But my skin hasn’t been in contact with your skin aside from your hands, so wash up.”

He laughed. “It is funny that you are giving me orders. I believe I understand the allure of omegas. Everything you do is adorable.”

She grimaced. “I suppose that is something I need to get used to. I have never been considered cute.”
