I raise a brow. I want revenge, plain and fucking simple.

“She either marries you, or she dies.” He grins sadistically.

I blink. “Marry her?” What the fuck?

“Yes. A marriage that’s filled with hatred will be the ultimate revenge. The woman will forever be trapped. She’ll live constantly in fear, wondering when her time is up. Every morning, she’ll wake up and wonder if today is the day she’ll die.”

Christ. What the fuck is wrong with Dario? I wanted revenge and this would be the best way for it. Having her marry me would be the cruelest thing to do, and I fucking love it.

“You do this,” Rocco says, his eyes hard. “No one can find out.”

“You mean your wife?” Dario hisses. “Christ, Roc, this is Famiglia business. Since when did your wife start to interfere with our business?”

I sit back and watch my brother's face. With the way our business has grown, I have a feeling she’s been giving input. If anyone finds out that a woman has been involved in our dealings, there will be hell to pay.

Anger and disappointment flicker through his features. “My wife,” he snarls, “has nothing to do with the business. I’d prefer not to rile her. She’s a fucking menace when she gets going, and finding out that my brother, her brother-in-law, is basically going to force a woman to marry him—I don’t even want to know what happens behind closed doors—she’s going to be pissed.”

Well, that’s no lie. If Jade finds out about this arrangement, she’ll have something to say for sure, but I have no intentions of telling her anything. “What Jade doesn’t know won’t hurt her,” I tell him as I reach for my coffee.

He nods. “Exactly. But let me be clear, Elio. I know you want revenge, and I do too, but this girl is a woman. Remember that. We are not our father.”

I start to eat, ignoring his heated gaze on me. He thinks I’m going to go off the deep end, and I might. Fuck, I might end up losing myself in this vengeance. But, fuck, I’ll never be my father. Not fucking ever.

My father was a sick bastard in more ways than one. His death was easy and painless, far more respectable than he deserved. If I had my way, I’d have taken him out and made sure that he felt the pain he put both Dario and Adelina through.

We continue to eat as Rocco catches us up with the latest information about what happened with the Dirty Demons. They’re all dead. Bear was burnt alive while the others were electrocuted. I’m glad the fuckers felt the lick of the flames, felt the heat crawling up their body. I just wish I had a front row seat to it.

“Now,” Rocco says eerily as he gets to his feet. “When you find this Teagan girl, Elio, you need to make sure it looks legit from the outside. Flash the cash and all that shit. The last thing we need is Jade and Adelina on our cases because of what your plans are.”

I roll my eyes. The man is so wrapped up in his wife. I like my sister-in-law. She’s good for Roc, and I fucking love that she’s tough as hell and wouldn’t think twice about slitting your throat. Christ, having to pander to the expectations of what the Gallagher’s do rather than what the Famiglia does gets a little too much sometimes.

“How about find your balls?” Dario fires back. Neither of us would go against him in public. Hell, we’d never say it if there were other men around. “You’re the damn boss, Roc, but all we hear about is your wife and what she wants.”

He pushes his fist down against the counter. “I’m the boss.”

“Then damn well fucking act like it,” Dario hotly says. “We’re all waiting for you to step up and be the boss. You wanted this, Roc. You wanted this enough to push aside our sister’s feelings. You got it. Now fucking start acting like a boss.”

Rocco looks to me. He shouldn’t, because I agree with Dario. Every word he said is the truth. I’d do anything to protect Jade, but lately, with this shit, sooner or later it’s going to come out that his wife is closer than she should be, and that’s a huge no-no.

“Anyone finds out just how close Jade is to the operations, and we’re all fucking dead,” I say low. “Don’t you get that? We adore Jade, we fucking do, but she’s not part of the Famiglia, Roc. You say you want this. That this is all you’ve ever wanted. But it sure as fuck doesn’t seem that way anymore.”

He runs a hand through his hair. “I’ll talk with Andrea,” he snarls. “I’ll talk to you both later.” He walks out of the room, leaving Dario and I alone. No doubt he’s going to bitch about us, but when he’s finished his rant, he’ll realize that what we have said is right.

Dario looks at me. “Ready?” he asks.

“For what?”

He rolls his eyes. “We’re going to find that Demon girl.”

“Finish your breakfast,” I tell him as I continue to eat mine.

I should have known that Dario wanted revenge just as badly as I did. He’s worked hard to find it for me, and I’m grateful that one of my brothers had my back. I’m still pissed about how Roc allowed the Gallagher’s to take out the Demons, and that anger is going to last for a while.

“He’ll be pissed, but he’ll eventually see that we’re right,” Dario says once we’re finished.

I nod. “He will. I get why he’s keeping her close. She’s a good ally. But he’s playing a dangerous game by doing so, and it’s not only his neck on the line.”

Dario reaches for his cell. “Yep, and as much as I love Jade, she’s family. I’m not going down because their fucking pillow talk turned to work.”
