Page 47 of Cyprus's Truth

“Noelle, Bride,” Cyprus calls out the moment he steps into the house.

Bride and I share a look, grinning. He’d been gone out of town handling club business. With the threat against me gone, he was able to go without worrying too much. It didn’t stop him from constantly checking in.

While he was gone, Bride and I grew that much closer. We’ve bonded over baking, movies, and just doing girl stuff. Sometimes we went out with the ol’ ladies, others it was just her and me. Well, I can’t forget the prospect who always tags along, keeping an eye on us.

During the week, I’d take Bride to school, come home, do a few things around the house, and find myself bored. At first, I couldn’t stand the silence and not having anything really to do. So, Jade suggested I volunteer at the library or check out the gym her friend Rosemary works at.

Or, well, she did work at until she disappeared. That was about two weeks ago. No one knows where she went or why. Jade’s been worried about her. She asked Nerd to look into what’s going on and where she could have gone, but it’s like she’s completely slipped off the radar. Stoney and the others said they’d find her, but I find it concerning how she’s vanished. Poof. Gone. No leads whatsoever. It makes me wonder if she didn’t run, leaving everything she ever had behind.

Though Hector was handled, they still have the problem at hand with some group called the Supreme Masters. Now that they know the man who heads it all, they’ve been working with another club to neutralize the threat. It’s why they sent that girl, Valentine, or rather, Lily, to the other club. She needed to be protected but also help with what was going on. I feel for Lily and everything she endured.

“In here,” Bride calls out, pulling me from my thoughts and bringing me back to the now.

I blink and look over as Cyprus makes his way fully into the living room. Bride and I had taken all the cushions off the couch and made a fort to lay in while watchingPretty in Pink. To my surprise, Bride enjoys watching movies from the eighties and nineties with me. It was hilarious when we watchedThe Breakfast Club. She’d gotten the idea to reenact the dance they do where one of the actors slides.

“What the hell are y’all watchin’?” Cyprus asks, cocking a brow, and nods toward the fort surrounding Bride and me. “Looks like y’all haven’t missed me one bit.”

Getting to my feet, I launch myself over the back of the couch. He knows better than to think we haven’t missed him. In the two months he’s been away, I’ve learned what phone sex is and what it does to him when I send him naughty pictures. Cyprus catches me easily, and I wrap myself around him, lips going straight for his.

“Eww, get a room.” Bride giggles.

Breaking the kiss, I laugh alongside her and look at Cyprus. “You’re finally home.”

“Yeah.” He grins and carries me around the couch. “Punk, put the cushions back in place,” he says to Bride and takes a seat in the recliner.

“Okay,” Bride remarks, rolling her eyes as she meets mine. “He’s just getting back and already barking orders.”

“You’ll survive.” Cyprus chuckles. “I’ve got something to talk to you two about anyway.”

“What is it?”

“What about?”

Bride and I ask at the same time.

Cyprus glances between the two of us and leans back slightly, his fingers trailing up and down my spine. “You know Viper and I went out of town.”

“Yeah, it was for club business.” I nod, confused by his remark. I knew they’d gone down to Mississippi on club business, and I didn’t want to interfere or take a chance of overstepping.

“Reason for it was ‘cause we’re looking for a place to use for a new clubhouse.”Now, I’m even more confused. “Anyway, we found a place. It’s just outside of one of the heavily populated areas and just off the Pearl River, about an hour from the Gulf.”

“Okay . . .” I murmur, wondering why he’s telling us this.

“Viper and I were voted in as Prez and VP. The two of us will be running the Mississippi charter,” he announces.

“We’re moving?” Bride asks, brows furrowed.

Cyprus looks from me to her. “Yeah, Punk, that cool with you?”

Bride crosses her arms and cocks her hip out. “Will I still be able to come visit everyone here? What about my friends?”

“You can visit as much as we can fit in, maybe spend some summers or whatnot. But you’ll have your phone. You can FaceTime them anytime you want. Long as you keep up with your schoolwork and everything else.”

“Okay, then, I’m good with moving,” Bride agrees, nodding, and then beams. “We’re moving!”

“You good with this?” Cyprus asks, this time talking directly to me.

“Where you go, I go,” I murmur, thinking about what he told me so long ago about if I ran, he’d find me. Nothing has ever felt like home. Not since the day Noah died. Being with Cyprus, that’s home. It’s not where we live that matters but who we’re with that does. Long as he’s with me, I’m willing to go wherever life takes us.

“Ain’t that the truth,” Cyprus says, leaning in and pressing his lips to mine. “We’re in for one hell of a ride, baby.”

“It’s the best sort there is,” I agree.

“You’re damn right about that. Never want to live without you again.”

“Well, it’s a good thing you don’t have too.” I giggle and wrap my arms around him.

I close my eyes and send a thank you to whoever is listening, but I’m willing to bet it’s Noah looking out for me. I finally get to live and not worry about the past. I get to move forward and do it with the man I’ve been in love with all my life.
