CYPRUS

Leaving the grocery store, anger rolls over me. I’d spent a lot of time over the past few days going over the files Nerd sent to me and pondering what the hell I should do. If Noah was here, he’d be pissed that his sister was being treated the way she is, or that she was in bed with the man who took over the Alcazar Cartel. The Dominquez family is just as worse, if not more so. I don’t know the logistics of how they took control, just that they did and have become a pain in the club’s ass recently. They’re wanting to put their shit on the streets in our town and that ain’t flying with Stoney.

And knowing Noelle is all but being used as a punching bag for her parents and with a man like Hector Dominquez royally pisses me off and I want answers. I saw her in the grocery store while waiting on Whip, Venom, Aries, and Kevlar—who, before he was patched in, was called Fist, but he’d gotten a new road name after we witnessed between him and Rosemary when they got into it over some one-night stand—to get the rest of what was on the list we were given. Normally, the new prospects would be going out and doing this shit, but Whip and Venom had roped us into going along with them because they’re doing some type of project for their women.

I’d spotted her before she ran into me. I thought of going up to her and talking but turned away to leave her be. I figured she made her bed, she could lie in it. Then she’d walked her cart right into me and I couldn’t not find out at least something that was bugging me. Why did she apply for a nanny position when she’s with Hector Dominquez?

“Everything good, brother?” Aries asks, watching me closely as we head for our bikes.

“Just had a run-in with Noelle,” I grunt, my gut tightening. Something about Noelle’s reaction to me isn’t sitting well. On top of that, I watched as she just up and left the shopping cart and all but ran out of the store like her ass was on fire. Yeah, something is definitely not right.

“Saw her,” he says and looks to Kevlar and the others before looking at me. “Also saw her runaway.”

“Yeah.” What else is there to say?

“Cyprus,” Whip calls, getting my attention as I straddle my bike and glance in his direction.

“Don’t start, Whip.”

“Brother, you know you need to find out what’s going on. Get her out of that shit.” Of course, Whip ignores me and is going to tell me what he thinks anyway.

“Agreed,” Venom grunts, nodding as he and Kevlar quickly load the back of his truck with shit. “You know we’ve got your back in whatever you decide, and even if you don’t want her watchin’ out for Bride, I get it, but I’d still get her out of the situation she’s in.”

I glance at all of them, let out a harsh breath, and mutter, “Fuck, let’s swing by. If she’s there, I’ll talk to her.”

“Good.” Kevlar grins and cracks his knuckles. “Who knows, it might be fun swinging by her place.” He looks at me, his grin widening further. “I’ve been doing a little watching along with Viper and Neo, lots of activity in that house.”

I shake my head, not even bothering about what the hell they’re all doing watching Noelle’s house. I don’t want to know. It’ll just piss me the fuck off further.

* * *

The ride over to Noelle’s place takes longer than normal, thanks to the construction going, and by the time I pull up in front, I’m more on edge than I was originally. I don’t know what I’m doing here, but with my brothers at my back, I figured the least I could do is get Noelle out of there and take her to the clubhouse. The club can help, and I don’t have to deal with her. At least, that’s what I tell myself until I notice the crowd hanging in the front yard. Noelle’s dad is among them. His eyes narrow on me, and he looks to the front door and then back to me. As if he knows what I’m here for.

Great.

“Brother, looks like they have more than company here,” Aries remarks and points out the black SUV parked nearby.

“Right,” I growl. Without another thought, I stalk up to the front of the house, ignoring Noelle’s dad and leaving the others to my brothers to hold back. Going off memory, I head directly for Noelle’s room, but her mom steps in front of me, blocking access.

“My, Beckham, you’ve grown up.” She eyes me with lust and reaches out to touch my chest, but I grip her wrist and shove her back into the room she came out of.

I let her go and point at her nose. “Don’t fuckin’ move.”

Leaving her in the room,I get to Noelle’s room and throw the door open. It bounces off the wall and my vision goes red at the sight in front of me. “Get the fuck off her,” I snarl, advancing across the room to rip the fucker Hector off Noelle. Even in my rage, I can hear her gasping for breath.

I slam my fist into Hector’s face and don’t stop until he’s passed out. I’d do more if I didn’t know this one act would cause problems for the club. Killing him will bring war.

Breathing harshly, I slowly turn to face Noelle to see her staring at me with wide, fearful eyes. Her shirt is ripped, she’s got a bruise already forming on her face, and her neck looks beet red.

Without speaking, I look around her room for anything she might want or need. The only thing I see is a box, one Noah had given to her that he’d made in shop class. I knew she used it to store special things in. I walk over, grab it, and open the lid, seeing it filled with pictures of Noah, her, and me in it.

Fuck me.

Closing the lid, I jerk my chin toward her. “Anything else you might need here?” I ask.

“No,” she croaks and wraps her arms around her front, concealing herself the best she can.

“Good.” Stepping to her, I take her hand, all but dragging her out of the house. Outside, I take her over to my bike and grab a hoodie out of the saddlebag, handing it to her. “Put this on,” I order her and look at my brothers as they slowly make their way back to us.
