Daisy’s platinum-blonde hair bounced as she laughed, and it brightened my heart until I saw the group of men she was talking to. They leered over her, drinking in her beauty as they sipped their whiskey sours. What was she playing at?

When the sharp-dressed stranger touched her side, my hackles went up, and I could barely compute the introductions happening before me. And when the fucker leaned down to whisper something in Daisy’s ear, all I could see was red. “Excuse me,” I said, rudely interrupting. “I need another drink.”

Unperturbed, Flynn continued making small talk while I made a beeline to Daisy.

After the man handed her a glass of champagne, I latched onto her arm before it reached her lips. “Tip it out.”

Her eyes bulged. “Ethan!”

“Tip. It. Out.”

Blush burst into Daisy’s cheeks as she pushed me aside. “What are you doing?!” she hissed as we stepped out of earshot.

The man, only slightly taller than me, reappeared at Daisy’s side. “Everything okay here?”

His protectiveness aggravated me more. “Fuck off.”

Daisy’s eyes rolled as she turned back to the douchebag. “I’m sorry.” She pressed her hand against his chest. “It’s my brother. He’s off his medication. Can you give us a minute?”

With a faint nod, the man retreated while I pulled Daisy onto an unoccupied balcony. The fresh air calmed me instantly. I hated crowds.

Daisy shoved me off once we were out of sight. “What the fuck, Ethan?!”

“You shouldn’t accept drinks from strangers.” I pointed to her glass. “Tip it out.”

Her glare intensified. “Fine.” With the flick of her wrist, the entire drink tipped down her throat.

“Daisy!”

“Oh, but aren’t you and Flynn here to save me?” she emitted in a princess voice. “What’s the worst that could happen?”

I bit the inside of my cheek. “I’m not carrying your drunk ass home.”

“I may not come home.”

“You’re not leaving my fucking sight.”

“Wow, I never took you as a watcher.” Electricity swirled between us as she stepped closer. “Or do you only like to listen to me fuck?”

I’d never been so angry and turned on in my life. “At least I know the difference between your fake moans and your real ones now.”

Daisy sucked in her breath, preparing to spit out more venom, when the man she’d been with only moments before stepped out onto the balcony.

“So, you’re Daisy’s brother.” His expensive smile gleamed as he shook my hand. “I’m Nicholas. I bet Daisy was a real pocket rocket to grow up with.”

Ethan laughed. “Oh yeah, she goes off alright.”

Daisy stared into her empty glass, grimacing.

“Have you bought any art tonight?” Nicholas asked, clearly trying to size up my wealth.

“No. You?”

His eyes panned to Daisy. “I plan to take something beautiful home tonight.”

Kill. Me. Now.

“Ethan’s one of the artists,” Daisy said, deflecting the insinuation.
