“What do you mean?”

He turned his laptop to face me. “This the guy?”

I nodded when I saw the picture of Sal on the screen. “That’s him.”

Kyle spun the laptop back to face him. “Says here he owns a couple of buildings in Riverton, mostly condos and townhouses.” He continued to talk as he was typing on his laptop. “His business is legit, and he pays his taxes.”

I made a face. “There’s no way he’s driving a brand new Ferrari just from owning real estate, right?”

Kyle frowned at his screen, but he was obviously focused on finding out everything he could about Sal. “I’ll need to dig into his business and personal finances a little more, but he has no debt that I can see from a quick search. He lives in one of the buildings, which, by the way, is paid off. They all are. Unless he inherited the buildings or a shitload of money, it would be hard to own that much property without debt. I can’t even find credit card debt.” He shook his head. “Makes me wonder what else he’s selling.”

“He own the building Manny uses?” Jax asked.

Kyle tapped on the keys again. “Searching deeds now.” Humming, he waited another few seconds before glancing at Jax. “You know it.”

“He own any other property in Cranberry?”

Kyle went back to work, and for a moment, I just took it all in. It was obvious to me now why they were so successful. They were able to find out more about Sal in the last few minutes than I knew over the last few years.

“None.”

“That’s not a coincidence,” Brody stated.

Jax turned to face me. “Anything else you remember from the car or Manny’s? Did you go inside the building?”

“No,” I admitted. “I sat in the car, but before he got out, he pulled something from behind his seat and carried it in.”

“Do you know what it was?”

“No. But it was in a yellow envelope.”

“This only proves something is going on inside those walls that we need to know more about.” Everyone nodded, and I looked back at Jax when he said my name. “We’re going to start tracking this guy now that we know Manny has someone in his back pocket. I need you to keep me updated on anything he says or does.” Jax watched me closely while he spoke. “And if anything causes you fear, we need to know right away so we can get some protection on you and Wyatt.”

“We know you’re living with Bear right now. You plan on staying there?”

My attention shifted to Brody when he spoke. “Yeah, for now.”

“He there a lot?”

“No,” I answered honestly. “He’s been distracted a lot lately and pretty miserable.”

Kyle snorted. “Not surprised.”

These men knew the situation at the clubhouse. The fact that they knew about Skinner and Josie was just another reminder of small-town life. Even the best-kept secrets had a way of getting out eventually.

“Are you alone a lot?”

“Race was staying with me and babysitting Wyatt, but he left town on Christmas Eve. Since then, I’ve been alone more. Bear spends most of his time at the clubhouse, and it seems the threats from the Widows have calmed down, so I don’t think he’s as concerned as he once was.”

Jax’s eyebrows drew together. “Where’d Race go?”

“Home.” I shrugged. “But that’s all I know. He texted me on Christmas Eve that he had to leave town to take care of something. When I asked where, he said home.” I looked back and forth between Jax and Brody. “And then he said he wouldn’t have his phone.”

“Hmm…” Jax shifted his attention to Kyle. “Where’s home?”

“You don’t have to look that up. It’s Philly.” Jax’s head turned to face me again. “Bear told me.”

“Bear knows he went?” When I nodded, he continued. “He know when Race’s coming back?”
