“I’m doing just what I said before. I’m going to Tabiq. If Venus is there, I just need to know it is by her choice. And whatever family that agent was speaking about hasn’t been there for her in years. Why are they so protective now?”

“Not sure. I have a feeling you’re not going to stop until you find out,” he stated.

“Damn straight.” I got back up and said, “I appreciate you not divulging my name to them.”

“You’re my client. And you can ask your brother, I don’t intimidate easily. If they want any more information, then it will come through a court order.”

“Jones, I want you to do me a favor. If you don’t hear from me in a week, I want you to tell Rian everything you know.”

“Worried that you might not be coming back?” he said.

“Since we really have no idea what that threat meant, I’m not crossing that off the list. But I’d rather someone have a clue about what happened and right now, you’re it.”

Jones offered, “I can come with you if you’d like.”

“Nope. This is something I need to do on my own.”

Rian had definitely sent me to the right PI. Jones was good. I’d hoped that I would have something concrete before leaving his office, but at least I had more than I did before. Unfortunately, I had more questions as well.

Normally, I’d be taking my sailboat, but I didn’t have three weeks to travel halfway around the world. I pulled out my cell phone and booked a flight. The last leg of the trip was a little more difficult as it needed to be approved. By who?

My phone rang. I answered, “This is O’Leary.”

“Hello Mr. O’Leary. I see you are trying to book a flight to Tabiq. Will you be traveling for business or pleasure?” the woman asked.

“Pleasure. I hear they have some wonderful beaches.” Not that I was going to spend any time on them.

“Yes, we do. And how long will you be staying?” she inquired.

As long as needed. “A week.”

“I assume that you will be staying at New Hope Resort.”

“Of course. Just myself,” I added.

“Perfect. Your flight and room have been approved. You will be met by a private jet for the last leg of the journey. I will email you all the information you’ll need for your stay with us.”

Very efficient.Very much on lockdown. This only confirmed my suspicions. Venus wasn’t there on vacation. Something else was going on.By tomorrow I'll be in Tabiq and somehow find her.

My phone buzzed and I opened the email. There was a list of do’s and don’ts. From what I was reading, guests were not allowed to travel off the resort property. That might make finding her a little more difficult, but not impossible. I know what the email said, but that didn’t mean I was going to follow the rules.

What are they going to do? Pack my bags and ship me off the island?

Guess I was going to find out because I was going to push the limits.

As I pulled out of the parking lot, my cell phone rang. It was Rian. “Hi, what’s up?”

“Just checking if you’re still in town.”

“I am but I’m leaving in a couple of hours,” I said.

“Got time for dinner?” he asked.

“Just you or with Mom and Dad too?” I questioned. I didn’t need another night like the first one. She spent the entire time guilting me for not coming around more often. If she only understood that what she was doing was having the opposite effect.

“Just me. Thought we could have a beer and chat,” he replied.

“You mean to ask me what’s going on with Jones,” I stated.
