That’s when I pipe up, “Maddie I am going to be right in front while you’re on stage. If anything freaks you out, you look right at me. “

Maddie stares up at me and smiles. “Okay.”

I walk her to the stage and keep eyes on her until I hit my place at the front. My gaze and hers are completely locked. The Smoking Guns start with some opening chords while Paul announces the band.

“The Smoking Guns are here to rock with you tonight. Let me introduce our crew.” Paul went through each band member and the backup singers before announcing Maddie. “And finally, the siren that tempts us all to follow her sound, our soulful diva, Miss Maddie.”

Maddie struts on stage with attitude and immediately hits a note to stun the audience into complete silence. She then moves in motion to a set of songs clearly designed to ignite and entice the audience. Men sway and women dance to their sound. Maddie throws her body into every song, dancing to the pop songs, grinding to the hard rock, and swaying to the soft sensual beats.

Fuck, she is beautiful, sexy, and simply amazing. At one point, Maddie says, “This song is for you, Guard, from your lovely wife. I hope you get the clue. I didn’t write this, but it is appropriate for this moment.” She sings with her brother—Baby Boy by Beyoncé and Sean Paul.

All eyes go to Guard as he processes what’s happening. He looks at Ava, slightly confused, but when she rubs her belly, he finally gets it. He pulls his wife in for a kiss and the crowd roars.

The place is getting louder and louder, the crowd singing along with the band. Maddie changes her outfits three times, each ensemble more enticing than the one before. The men are drinking hard and I’m hearing some crude remarks about how they want to fuck her into tomorrow, along with some more explicit ways to use her body. It’s taking all my strength to not pick them up and throw them across the yard, beating them until they bleed. I can see that Maddie is sensing something too as she’s moving back closer to her brother, her eyes hitting mine more and more as the night goes on.

Paul announces the final number, saying, “This is our last one tonight. As always, our beautiful Diva gives a parting gift.” He turns to Maddie, “What’s it gonna be tonight, gorgeous?”

Maddie takes off her leather choker and brings it to her lips. She lightly kisses the ruby-colored jewel in the center and hands it to Paul. She sings their first hit, Never Wanted You to Know. The last note is wavering through the air and the crowd erupts into applause.

After a moment, Paul continues. “Thanks, sugar.” He takes the choker and prepares to launch it into the crowd. “Who wants it?”

The crowd erupts. Paul whips it out into the crowd and a sea of hands raise to catch it. “We want to thank you for having us here tonight, and a special thanks to Guard and the Satan’s Pride Crew for inviting us to do our thing. Once more with feeling, let me say goodnight on behalf of Darren, Troy, Alex, Brianna, and Michelle. I’m Paul and of course, this is our lovely Maddie.”

I swing myself onto the furthest point on the stage and then follow Maddie off, looking behind me to make sure no one else has the same idea. The band files into the tent. I immediately notice the high everyone is on from the performance. Everyone except Maddie. She is sitting in a chair in front of a mirror, pulling her hair into a ponytail and tying it back. She moves to wipe the heavy makeup until it’s clean off her face. Her shoulders are drooped and she places her head in her hands. She looks exhausted.

“Paul,” she says calmly. “I need to get changed.”

“Yeah. Sure.” Paul looked at the guys. “Let’s wait outside the tent for a few minutes.” They make their way outside.

I don’t move. Maddie looks at me. “War, I need to get changed.”

“I’m not leaving. They’re all riled up out there and I’m not taking a chance of someone coming in.” I’m doing this for her protection, but also because I don’t want to be away from her.

“I can’t change with you here.” She said looking at ground.

I turn my back to her. “I won’t look.”

“You’re really not leaving?” I can sense her conflict. She wants me to stay, but she’s shy.

“No. Now hurry up and we can make our way out of here.”

I can hear her shift out of her clothes, and imagine the jeans shimmying down over her soft, silky hips. I almost groan aloud at the thought. If I close my eyes tight enough, I can see my hands moving over her, licking at her thighs. I’m so hungry for her.

“I’m ready,” she calls out, shaking me out of my mental image.

I turn to see her in a soft pink hoodie, faded jeans, and plain converse runners. She looks soft and sweet; a complete transformation from the vixen on the stage. Her eyes are large and she looks like she just wants to go home and snuggle in her bed. Little does she know I want to join her there.

I open the tent flap and tell the rest of the band they can come back in. Guard and Ava make their way in as well.

Ava gushes, “Oh my God, you were fabulous! This was the best present ever!” She hugs Maddie.

Guard pipes up, “I make it happen and she gets the hug?” He loves to tease his old lady.

“Baby, I will thank you properly later. Promise, Honey.” She strokes his cheek.

“But seriously, thanks for doing this, Maddie,” Guard adds. “I appreciate the special song informing me we’re having a boy.” I could tell that meant a lot to Guard; he definitely got a little choked up when he heard the song.

“My pleasure,” Maddie says, her tone still quiet. “I hate to be a killjoy, but I am bagged. I need to make my way home.”
