“Well, go to her. Beg for forgiveness. Sounds like a woman like that isn’t going to come around again.”

No. I’m certain she’s the only woman for me.

I push my chair back. “Okay. You’re right.”

“Hell yeah. Go, take some time. Do this right. Just promise to keep me posted.”

I keep my eyes locked on him. There’s a lot going on under the surface right now. It’s his sister. I know he’d never give me this advice if he knew we were talking about Juno. I push that all down. I’ll figure out the fallout with Eli later and so I say, “Thanks, man. I will.”

Chapter Sixty-Four

Juno

Ifreeze as soon asI open the door.

“Bode.”

He’s standing on my front stoop. “Hi.”

“Are you okay? Is something wrong? How are you healing?” The words all come out in a rush.

“I’m fine. Mostly healed. Thank you.”

I scan his face and then say, “What are you doing here?”

He shifts his weight from one foot to the other and then says, “I came to see you.”

I let out a big sigh. “Bode...”

He holds up his hands. “Juno. Please let me talk.”

I shut my mouth and wait.

“I’m sorry. I’ve thought so much about what you said, and you were right. I shouldn’t have made decisions for you. We should have made them together.”

I chew on the inside of my cheek. “You really hurt me, Bode. I’m really angry too.”
