“I’m here to beg for your forgiveness. Beg for another shot with you.”

I close my eyes. “Bode. I appreciate the apology.”

When I don’t continue, he says, “Juno, I feel things for you that I’ve never felt for anyone else. I know you feel them too.”

I huff.

“Tell me I’m wrong. Tell me you don’t feel the same way and I’ll walk away. I’ll leave you alone forever.”

I’m so overwhelmed right now. “I don’t know what I feel,” I say, honestly.

He nods a few times and then says, “That’s okay. There’s no rush.”

I just eye him nervously, not sure where to go from here.

He takes a little step back. “I’m here. I’m staying here.”

He hooks his thumb over his shoulder.

“I’m renting a place across the street.”

My eyes bug out.

“You’re staying here?”

He nods. “I’m here. When you’re ready, Juno. I realize how badly I messed this up, but I want you to see that nothing is more important to me.”

I narrow my eyes at him.

“If you don’t want me here, I’ll go, but I think you want to figure this out – together.”

“I’m late for a meeting,” I say, stepping forward. He moves to the side. I walk passed him.

“Have a good day,” he calls as I start down the street.

I’m so confused right now. Every emotion is flooding my system. Of course, I feel things for Bode. I’ve felt things for Bode since I was a teenager, but he broke my heart. He walked away. What’s to say he won’t do it again? And, he didn’t even bother talking with me about it last time. He just walked away. I straighten my shoulders and head to work. I don’t have time to dwell on this.

When I return home that evening, I stop short. Bode is just sitting on my front stoop, waiting.

“Please tell me you haven’t been here all day,” I say.

He grins. “I do have a life.”

“You dropped everything and moved here,” I counter.

His grin just grows. “Perks of being a billionaire.”

I snort. “I suppose.”

“How was your day?” he asks.

“Fine.” I step around him. “I’m tired.”

“Okay, see you tomorrow.”

I whip around. “What?”

“Tomorrow morning. I’m bringing you coffee.”
