I shake my head. “No. I tried to stay away from her after that.”

“Didn’t work, did it?” he asks.

“No, sir.”

He frowns. “Don’t call me, sir. It’s just James.”

I nod.

“Like I said, I’m a hard man to keep secrets from.”

I swallow and then he says, “I’m serious though. I’m glad she picked you. You make a good pair. I’ve always thought so.”

He pats my back and walks away. My tongue doesn’t work anymore, so I just watch him leave. Juno makes her way over to me and whispers, “What’s wrong with you? What did James say?”

I shake my head. “Nothing.”

“Come on,” she says. “I saw the two of you talking.”

“Fine. He just told me that he was glad you chose me.”

Her eyes sparkle. “Me too.”

She leans in and kisses me. When she pulls back, I say, “And that he’s known about us for years.”

She tips her head back and laughs. “Nothing about that surprises me.”

I wrap her in a big hug. “I love you.”

“I love you too. Thank you for putting up with my crazy family.”

I squeeze her tighter. “What are you talking about? Your crazy family is my favorite thing about you.”

She growls. “Favorite?”

I laugh and pull back. “No. Not the favorite, but it’s up there.”

She grins and then points up. I flick my eyes up and then grin back. “Well, what do you know?”

“What are you going to do about it?” she says, coyly.

“We’re standing under the mistletoe. I believe it’s the law we kiss.”

She’s still in my arms and looks up at me with her big brown eyes. “The law?”

“Christmas law,” I say.

I pull her in close and kiss her. She parts her lips so I can slide my tongue inside. We let the world drift away until I hear, “Gross.”

We pull back. Keene is walking passed. “Who keeps putting the mistletoe everywhere? A man can’t even walk around in peace.”

“You’re just jealous.” Juno laughs. Keene just growls and keeps walking.

I squeeze her tighter and then look down at her. “You ready for this next adventure?”

“This one and every one after it.”

“I can’t wait,” she says.
