“Juno, promise me. Not that guy,” I say, following after her. She’s booking it now. I have to jog a little to catch up.

“Stop being so jealous,” she calls over her shoulder. “It’s weird. You don’t want me, but you don’t want other guys to have me.”

“It’s not about that, Juno. Really. Please trust me on this.”

She throws her arms up. “Why? Because I’m so incapable of making good decisions everyone has to make them for me?”

I’m not sure how to explain this to her. Before I can say anything else, she says, “I know he’s kind of weird. I mean, microdosing LSD is odd, but that seems pretty harmless to me. I’m not going to like marry him or anything.”

Yeah. That’s definitely not happening. I will literally call the President before I let her spend any meaningful time with him.

“Just drop it, Bode,” she says.

I grab her wrist. “Please, Juno. Trust me on this.”

She jerks her arm away. “I don’t want to be bossed around.”

I shut my mouth. If I push this any further, I’m afraid she’ll literally hit me over the head and run back to him.

Chapter Twenty-Six

Juno

The whole group decidedto go out on Friday night after class together for dinner. I’m sitting next to Justin. He’s into me – really into me. I think tonight might be the night. Bode is just shooting daggers across the room at us. He needs to chill the fuck out. If he wanted to be with me, he had plenty of chances.

Justin leans in and whispers in my ear, “You’re looking so fucking beautiful tonight.”

I blush a little.

He continues. “That dress. Oh, my god.”

Cynthia interrupts our flirting by asking, “What was everyone’s favorite recipe this week?”

Mark answers first, “Gnocchi.”

Susan nods, “That was so good. I loved the tiramisu recipe too. I can’t wait to make it at home.”
