Holly nods in agreement and then says, “All of the pasta recipes were amazing.”

“They were, indeed,” August says.

I agree. I can’t wait to make everything for my family. “The pasta was incredible. I hope I can reproduce it at home. What about you, Justin?”

“My biscotti came out really good.”

Everyone nods in agreement and then the focus turns to Bode. He’s still giving Justin the evil eye, but says, “Focaccia.”

Susan smiles at Bode and says, “Your focaccia turned out beautifully.”

He finally pulls his attention away from Justin and looks at Susan. “Thank you. I worked really hard on it.”

We break off into separate conversations again, and Justin leans into me and says, “I can’t keep my eyes off you tonight.”

I can feel his breath tickling my hair he is so close to me. My eye catches Bode. I think he’s about to get up and drag me out of here, but Mark asks, “So Juno, I know we’re probably not supposed to ask you about your family, but...”

Susan elbows him. “Mark, don’t be rude.”

I give them a smile. “It’s okay. I know people are curious.”

Mark leans in and says, “Do you think your other brother will run for President too?”

“Will?” I respond.

He nods.

I think about this for a moment and then answer, “Honestly, I think his wife might be more likely.”

“Olivia?” Holly says from across the table.

I shrug. “Maybe.”

Holly shoots her husband an excited look. “I hope so. We love Olivia. We’ve been following her since her activist days. She’d make a great President.”

I smile. “I agree. She’d have my vote.”

Holly smiles back. “Me too.”

I know Susan wants to ask a question, but she’s too shy so I say, “Anyone else have a question. Susan?”

She turns red and hesitates but then says, “I want to know more about Marryme. Is she really that cute in real life?”

I laugh. “Yes. She’s adorable, but an adorable mess. We love her. She loves everyone. She’s trouble though. You have to keep an eye on her. She keeps digging holes in the Rose garden.”

Susan laughs. “That’s exactly what I would have thought.”

I answer more questions for the next half hour. Bode gives me a little nod to let me know it’s time to go. Before he comes over, I lean into Justin and whisper, “I’m going to leave with Bode, but I’ll be back. Wait for me at the bar.”
