“Oh, yeah? What was the question?”

Cupping a hand to her face, he brushed those lips against her temple. “Do you accept me as your mate?”

She reached up and looped her hands around his neck. “Do I get to live in the palace?”

He nodded and the air between them grew serious.

“Yes, I accept.”

Dipping his head, he kissed her, and she moaned in surprise. Kissing an alien… she was kissingheralien. Her heart soared. Thank goodness aliens were real.

The door flung open, and Tristan stepped inside, human female voices following him.

“Who is that?” Kimber gasped.

A’zal stepped back from her and looked at Tristan questioningly. “There are holding cells in the other room—"

“I see your purple ass, Tristan! I knew there was something wrong with you. Get over here and let me out!”

Kimber’s mouth fell open. “Is thatBelinda?”

A’zal winced. “Neb must have brought her after she saw me in the bar.”

Tristan disappeared into the hall, followed by the sound of a door opening. Belinda’s very pissed face suddenly peeked in the room. She seemed completely unfazed to see them. “Oh, hey Kimber. Remember when I told you Ethan was an alien and you told me I didn’t know what the fuck I was talking about?”

Dana’s face appeared. “I’m here, too!”

Kimber blinked in disbelief. “How much room do you have in that castle?”

Picking her up so her legs wrapped around his waist, A’zal turned her away from curious eyes and cupped the back of her head with one hand.

“I wasn’t done with you. I believe humans like to make references to aliens and probing… in fact, you have a tee-shirt—”

“I do have that tee-shirt,” she snickered. “Maybe you should take me somewhere private so we can investigate the claims for ourselves.”

He kissed her long and hard before whisking her out of the room while she clung to him with all her strength.

She’d crawled into the wrong bed and ended up with the right alien, and she planned to enjoy the hell out of breaking rule number three.

Epilogue

Tristan

Hewassohappyto finally get the hell off the base station and back to Earth. Thank all the gods that the king had allowed the remaining Luxxorians to continue their Ruspa while he and Ethan worked their problems out. The skwerm weren’t happy about the continued intrusion but had backed down when they realized the Luxx weren’t interested in forcing them off Earth.

Fishing for the key in his pocket, Tristan slid it into the lock on his apartment door. Washington D.C. had been a welcome sight when he teleported into a dark hallway in Union Station an hour ago. He enjoyed the bustle and noise of the city. It reminded him of Luxxor, and though he wasn’t in any hurry to return to his home planet, it was comforting to have some familiarity as he tried to enjoy his remaining time on Earth.

It was odd being back to the apartment without Ethan, or their other roommates Marx and Beck who were traveling Europe. Tristan and Ethan hadn’t been separated for more than a few days at a time their entire lives, and as his prince’s Royal First Companion, Tristan wasn’tsupposedto be separated from Ethan. His duty was to watch over the prince and provide company, comfort, and advice, none of which Ethan had wanted during their time in Ireland.

Fine by him. He’d enjoy his alone time, without the prince he was bound by duty and life to be beside, always.

Huh. It felt uncomfortably strange to be by himself.

A scent caught his attention. His pulse picked up at the familiar floral notes. Glancing over his shoulder to the apartment across the hall, he listened for any sound coming from behind that door.

Was she home, or was the scent of perfume lingering from when she’d passed by earlier? A grin pulled the corner of his mouth.
