Rinna.

The curvy, dark-haired female that had taunted and plagued him since he’d arrived in this city from Luxxor. He was forbidden from ever taking a mate or having children, conditions of his duty to the prince, so he didn’t pursue his attraction to the small human. But it didn’t stop him from feeling restless at being so far away from her while in Ireland. He’d thought about her the entire time he’d been away, and no amount of trying to stop it helped. She crept into his thoughts night and day.

Watching Ethan and Kimber fall in love was bittersweet. He was happy that the prince and his new mate would be travelling to Luxxor so she could give birth under the guidance of Luxxorian physicians. Her pregnancy had developed rapidly as Luxx gestations did, and would slow into a twelve month process, according to the physician on base. But since this was the first ever human-Luxxorian hybrid, there was no way to know for sure how things would progress.

He was glad she would get the care she needed. And he was very happy that Ethan’s punishment only consisted of one solar year stripped of his royal title after returning from his military training commitment. His friend would do fine living as a commoner with his mate and new child to love him until he served his punishment and could reclaim his royal title.

Kimber seemed more concerned about the grays continued predatory behavior on Earth than making a home on a new planet, and seemed very relieved to know that Luxxor didn’t host any parasitic species like the skwerm. Her friends Belinda and Dana were overly happy to get the hell off Earth, as they both put it, and start something new. He and Belinda had found an unsteady peace between them, but he didn’t like the way she glared at him when she didn’t think he was looking. He wasn’t sure Luxxor was ready for a human at all, but certainly not one as testy as the Irish woman.

He was even more glad to be back at his Earth apartment and away from Belinda.

The urge to knock on Rinna’s door almost got the better of him but Tristan resisted.

He couldn’t.

But hewashere alone… no one would know if he pursued her just for a short time.

Pulling his lower lip between his teeth, he considered how to approach her. Ask her to dinner? A movie? Some other mundane activity that humans did when trying to catch a mate?

The grin blossomed into a smile as he imagined sitting across the table from her, feeding her from his fork and—

No! It was forbidden.

He couldn’t… could he?

Turning away from her door, he finished unlocking his own and pushed it open before stepping inside. The scent compelled him to look over his shoulder again, stomach clenching with the desire to go talk to her.

“Hello Kon, Royal First Companion. How nice to see you again so soon.”

The sweet anticipation at seeing Rinna shriveled as he looked inside his apartment and spotted Neb in his shadowy, creepy form, standing in the center of the room.

Ready to keep an eye on Tristan’s every move.
