“Mine can’t be.” His gaze narrowed. “But yours can. So that leads me to the conclusion that you were expecting a call that you didn’t want to miss.”

“Wow, your detective skills are next level.” I pressed a hand to his chest, covering the familiar tattoo, and gently pushed.

Viper took the hint and eased back. I inhaled a deep sigh of relief, glad that I no longer felt trapped, but I kept my hand on his chest.

I traced his ink with my finger, wondering why I couldn’t place the design. I knew I’d seen it before.

“You’re keeping something from me,” he said.

“About who’s calling?” I rolled my eyes. “Please. You’re overreaching here.”

“I’m not going to let this go. I trust my gut. And you’re hiding something from me. Ex-boyfriend?”

“No.”

“Loan shark?”

I burst out laughing. “Seriously?” I reached for the soap and made a lather.

“Okay, let’s see. In debt with the mob?”

“Keep going. Your imagination is hilarious.”

“You’re secretly still married and the guy’s stalking you?”

“Careful, Viper, you sound downright playful.”

Instead of using the lather to wash myself, I covered Viper in bubbles. I washed his arms, his chest…lower.

I got my hands slippery and soapy and then gently grasped his erect shaft. He clenched his jaw and closed his eyes.

I breathed an internal sigh of relief when Viper gave himself over to the moment instead of continuing to interrogate me. I coaxed an orgasm from him, extracting every bit of pleasure from his body. His seed spurted in long thin ropes between us.

Viper’s eyes were slits, and his breathing was heavy as he peered at me. I continued to massage him, even after his release.

My hand went to his hip, and I used him as an anchor to move out from underneath the shower spray and give it to him. I washed quickly and then got out.

“We’re not done with this conversation,” Viper growled, poking his head from behind the shower curtain.

“Sure we are,” I chirped, wrapping the towel around me. I shot him a cheeky grin and then escaped to the bedroom. I quickly threw on my jeans and tank and left my soiled thong that Viper had used to get himself off. I left Viper’s room before he was even out of the shower.

I made it back to my room without encountering anyone. The guys who lived in the clubhouse were late sleepers since they were up at odd hours of the night.

I quickly changed out of my dirty clothes and tossed them in the corner. The laundry was already in a pile, and I needed to do a load.

But first, coffee.

The living room and kitchen area were devoid of people, and I plopped down on the couch.

Viper’s scrutiny had been intense. He was observant and curious. I wondered how long I’d be able to fend him off before having to come clean.

The coffee maker beeped, and I got off the couch to pour myself a cup. Viper strode into the room, fully dressed.

“Do you have more club business you have to deal with today?” I asked.

He poured himself a cup of coffee and then lifted the mug from the counter, but he didn’t move toward the living room. “I always have club business to deal with.”

I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, okay, but what I meant was, are you leaving me here to my own devices while you go off and do biker things until it’s time to take me to work?”
