The other bartender had the grace to look sheepish. “Well, when Mia said she hired a new girl who’d waited tables but never bartended, I thought for sure I was going to have to carry you. But nope. You hold your own. Plus, you’re cool.”

“How long have you been bartending?”

“Better part of ten years,” she said wryly.

“Ah, a seasoned warrior, got it. I’m glad I measure up.”

The door to the bar opened and in strolled three gorgeous, tatted men who looked neither like bikers nor the preppy crowd. But they all had swagger and big-dick energy as they sauntered up to the bar.

“I was wondering if I was going to see you tonight,” Annabella said to the dark-haired man.

“Hey, gorgeous.” He leaned his tall body over the counter and brushed his lips along her cheek. His gaze slid to me, looking at me with interested blue eyes. “I haven’t met you before.”

“Lay off the charm, Virgil,” Annabella said with a laugh. “Her very scary biker boyfriend is sitting in the corner, and it looks like he’s already locked onto you with his eyes.”

Virgil looked at Viper, who was doing exactly as Annabella said.

“You’re dating Viper?” Virgil asked, a slow smile appearing on his lips.

“Don’t tell me—you’re surprised…”

“Verysurprised,” Virgil said.

The blond giant standing behind Virgil was scowling at everyone. “Pilsner.”

“Say please, Homer,” Annabella demanded.

Homer clenched his jaw and then gritted out, “Please.”

The third man whipped out his wallet and placed his credit card on the counter. “We’ll keep a tab.”

I scooped up his card while Annabella got to pouring Homer his beer. I glanced at the name on the plastic.Three Kings, Roman Jackson.

“What’s Three Kings?” I inquired.

“She’s never heard of us, Roman,” Virgil said, slapping the tall man on his back.

“Should I have heard of you?” I asked.

“Based on who you’re dating? Yeah,” Virgil said.

“Your arrogance is stifling,” Annabella quipped.

“Don’t mind my brother. He’s got the energy of a Jack Russell,” Roman said.

“But the heart of a Golden Retriever,” Virgil jested.

“Oh, you’re brothers,” I said, finally understanding. “Got it.”

“We own the Three Kings tattoo parlor,” Roman announced. “We ink the Tarnished Angels and all their Old Ladies. Guess I’ll have you in the chair soon…”

“Wait, I’m not an Old Lady,” I said. “We’re just dating. Nothing serious.”

“Hmm. Right.” Roman raised his brows.

Why does no one seem to believe me?

Annabella handed over the beers and the Jackson brothers headed to a vacant booth.
