“I have to get my stuff from Carla’s.” I took the helmet from him and placed it on my head.

“It’s at the clubhouse.”

“The clubhouse. Is that where you’re taking me?”

“Yeah.”

“Is that where you live? Is that where you bring all yourgirlfriends?”

He closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths.

“What are you doing?” I demanded.

“Praying for patience.”

“You pray?” I asked in surprise.

“Sutton, get your ass on my bike.”

I saluted. “Sir, yes, sir!”

He climbed on his bike and then I slid behind him. I wrapped my arms around his stomach and rocked up against him, pressing my heat against his back.

When he made a noise very much like a growl of frustration, I smiled.

We zoomed off into the night and I wondered who was being taken on the ride of their life.

Me or Viper?

The gates of the clubhouse opened, and Viper drove through. He parked on a gravel lot and cut the engine. I swung a leg over his motorcycle and climbed off. With a frown, I unclipped the helmet and removed it from my head.

“You look confused,” he said.

My ears vibrated from the rumble of the engine. “It’s…big.”

“Pretty much what all men want to hear.”

I looked at him and blinked. “Was that a joke? Did you just make a dick joke?”

“If I said yes, would that make you faint from shock?”

“I don’t faint.”

“Hmm.”

“Hmm? What’s that mean?”

He ran a thumb across his lips and scratched the stubble along his jaw. “Never mind.”

“Not never mind,” I demanded. “I’m curious by nature, so now you have to tell me what thathmmmeant.”

“Guess you’ll just have to go on being curious.” Viper strode past me, toward the porch steps of the well-lit clubhouse.

“Why does this look like a compound?” I demanded.

Viper didn’t reply.
