“Didn’t he? In all the ways that matter?”

I sighed. “I guess. Yeah.”

“It’s our job to be there for them,” Viper said, walking to me and pulling me into his embrace.

I wrapped my arms around him and squeezed.

He grunted.

“Shit!” I let go. “Sorry. I forgot.”

“It’s okay. Come back here. Let me hold you a minute.”

I let him take me into his arms and I pressed my cheek to his chest. “I think this is my favorite spot in the world. This, right here.”

“Not my bed?”

“Mmm…tied for first.” I sighed. “I like hearing your heartbeat.”

“You can hear that better when you’re on top of me—naked.”

“Get no ideas. I’m not putting out. You’re injured.”

“I’ll be injured for a few weeks. Are you going to hold out on me for that long?”

I grinned. “Doubtful. I’m not a saint. I just think a week of rest would be good for you.”

“Blow jobs. I can still get blow jobs. I don’t have to do anything except lay back and enjoy.”

I grinned. “Have it all worked out, huh?”

“I’ll rest for a week,” he said.

“Yeah?”

“On one condition…”

“Uh-oh. You and your conditions,” I teased.

“You give me dirty peep shows.”

“Need stuff for your spank bank, huh? Or will you not be spanking the bank?”

“I’ll spank the bank while I watch you.”

I reached out and stroked his cheek, smiling up at him. “You’re fun.”

We buried Gray next to South Paw. The earth hadn’t even had time to recover since we’d put him in the ground.

Now there were two.

Two brothers set to spend eternity with each other.

Two brothers waiting for others to join.

I stood underneath an umbrella with Viper next to me. It was raining and the sky was murky as we lowered Gray into his final resting place.
