I slid my hand across his fly. “I’ll be the judge of that.”

Chapter54

I woke up alone.

Viper’s side of the bed was cold, and I knew that meant he’d been gone for a while. This was nothing new. Even living together for just a few weeks, I’d grown accustomed to his random hours of sleeping. He’d wake up in the middle of the night and not come to bed until dawn.

My body was sore and achy, my wound nothing more than a dull annoyance. As far as gunshots went, I’d been lucky.

I went into the bathroom and splashed some water on my face and did my business. By the time I threw on yoga pants and flip-flops, I felt semi-awake.

I pulled my hair into a messy bun and headed down the stairs.

All the Old Ladies were hanging out in the kitchen and living room—even Darcy. She’d styled her hair and put on makeup, but more than that, I was surprised to find that she was even here.

“Hey, doll,” Mia greeted.

“What time is it?” I asked. My mouth was dry, and I was in desperate need of water.

“A little after eleven,” Willa said.

“How long have you all been here?” I inquired.

“Few hours,” Brooklyn admitted.

“Oh.” I ran a hand across my face.

“I have to get to the clinic soon,” Doc announced, “but I wanted to wait until you were awake.”

“I’m guessing you all know then?” I looked at Willa in accusation.

She held her hands up in supplication. “It wasn’t me. I swear.”

“I heard from Colt,” Mia said.

Joni grinned. “I heard from Zip.”

“Rach texted me,” Darcy admitted.

“Allison told me,” Rach said.

Allison nodded. “Torque told me.”

I looked at Brooklyn and then Doc. “Boxer and Slash told you?”

They both nodded.

“Sit,” Rach said.

“I need water…and coffee.”

“I’ll get it,” Rach said.

“Where are the kids?” I asked. “It’s entirely too quiet in here.”

“It’s why you slept late,” Rach said with a smile. “Kids are all over the place, but none of them are here.”

Rach brought me a glass of water and a cup of coffee that had been heavily creamed and sugared.
