“You asked her yet?”
Raze paused and took another sip of his beer. “Yeah. I asked. Gotta respect her wishes, you know?”
“Yeah, I know.” It was my turn to pause before I said, “She’s got a kid.”
“Yeah.”
“Didn’t take you for wanting to play the role of dad.”
“Kids are okay.” Raze quirked a brow. “What about you?”
“What about me?”
“You want kids?”
“The idea is growing on me,” I admitted.
“You’re thinking about knocking Sutton up, aren’t you?”
“No,” I lied.
I didn’t tell him that we’d had a close call already. That Sutton had taken a pregnancy test, but it had come back negative. And I definitely didn’t tell him that ever since I’d seen that negative test, it was all I thought about. All I wanted to do was fill her every damn day and night until she was round with my baby.
I hadn’t told that to Sutton, either.
“I don’t believe you.”
“She’s twenty-two.”
“So what?” Raze asked.
“I want us to have a few more adventures together before we start a family.”
“No bigger adventure than kids,” Raze said.
“Like you know.”
“Come on. I’ve been around enough kids in the club to know it would be an adventure. You need a beer—and you need to stop eye-fucking your woman,” Raze said.
“I’ll do no such thing,” I said with a wry grin.
There was nothing like sliding into your woman raw, with nothing between you, and then finishing and getting to hold her while you both fell asleep after.
I left Raze and headed toward Sutton. She drew me to her like a magnet. I couldn’t help myself, even if it made me look like a whipped asshole.
Then again, all the brothers who had Old Ladies acted the same, so I was in good company.
I slung an arm around Sutton’s shoulder and yanked her into my side. “Hey, Willa,” I greeted.
“Viper,” she said with a large smirk. She turned to Sutton. “Let me know.”
“Oh, I’m in. I’ll definitely help,” she said with a grin.
“Catch you guys later,” Willa said as she went to go join Duke and Savage by the grill.
“What are you helping with?” I asked.
“Brooklyn’s surprise baby shower,” she said, her voice low. “You can’t tell anyone.”
