I’d judged the leather-bound book by its cover, but I couldn’t have been more wrong about the story inside. A story I was now fascinated to discover.

The last two days had been insane. I’d killed a man with my bare hands, watched as my home burned to the ground, and then fallen into bed with a biker I hardly knew. My emotions were all over the place and I was beginning to feel like I needed to reel them in. Even though it wasn’t yet past ten, I was ready to crawl into bed and go to sleep.

I turned off the light and climbed under the covers. I was drowsy and almost asleep when my door burst open and a huge, hulking shadow loomed in the doorway.

I screamed in surprise.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Viper growled, slamming the door shut.

A moment later, the main light turned on. His glare was fierce, his dark hair was wet, his chest was bare, and he was wearing…

“You didn’t,” I said blandly.

“Didn’t what?” he snapped.

“Put on the gray sweatpants. Slung low on your hips to show off that taperingV-to-crotch area.”

“What the fuck you even talking about?” he demanded.

I raised my brows. “You didn’t do it on purpose?”

“Sutton, I’m warning you—”

“You’rewarningme? You burst into my room without even knocking, looking like a living wet dream and you have the audacity towarn me?”

He rubbed the back of his neck in frustration. “You left.”

“Left where?”

“My bed,” he gritted out. “I told you I was showering and then when I got done, you were gone.”

I blinked. “We were done.”

“Like hell we were.”

“Sleepovers are for couples. We’re not a couple.”

“Was I a bad fuck?” he asked bluntly.

“What? Of course not.”

“Then I can’t for the fucking life of me figure out why you’d leave my bed.”

“I told you—sleepovers are for couples, and we’renota couple. We’re expiration dating. Plus, I like to sleep alone and you’re a big guy and I have a feeling you’re a bed hog.”

He stared at me for a long moment and then finally, he marched to the exit, turned off the light, and shut the door.

Chapter12

“You look like hell,”Savage said the next morning as he came into the kitchen.

I was standing at the counter, staring into my drink. It was more sugar and cream than coffee.

“Thanks,” I said with a glare. “You’re up early.”

“Never went to bed.” He grinned. “I’m still a little buzzed.”

“Coffee?” I asked.
