“Don’t make me feel self-conscious,” she scolds.

Laughing, I bend closer, giving her plenty of time to turn her head before I kiss her. Our tongues dance together as I allow her to taste herself, and she hums softly, running her fingers along the back of my head and down my neck.

I almost groan at how good it feels. Like heaven. It’s strange. Being with someone who’s as considerate as Kate. As caring. She makes it seem effortless. Like it’s who she is. Like she’s unable to turn it off, even if she wanted to.

“I love how innocent you are, Kate Winchester.”

“And I love how you accept me through and through, Macklin Taylor.”

“Wanna know what else I love?” I ask.

“What?”

“How you knew exactly what I needed last night.”

Her legs part, and she cradles me between them, rubbing herself against my erection.

“Mmm,” she hums. “Want to know what I think you need?”

“What?” I return.

“A solid orgasm.”

I laugh a little harder, though it takes everything inside of me to keep from thrusting into her. She’s so damn warm. So damn inviting.

“Oh, you think?” I quip.

“Yup. You should definitely get inside me now.”

“I should, huh?”

“Mm-hmm. I’m ready for my second orgasm.”

I chuckle dryly and line myself up with her entrance. “As you wish.”

KATE

With a frown, Macklin types another message into his phone as I brush my fingers through my damp hair hanging in ropes down my back.

“Everything okay?” I question him.

“Still no word from Hazel,” he mutters, setting his phone back on the bathroom counter. After our little tryst in the makeshift fort, we cleaned everything up and took a shower. Unfortunately, reality can only be pushed off for so long, and it seems it’s caught up with us.

Stupid reality.

Everything had felt so perfect and natural I’d almost forgotten the drama from last night.

Almost.

As I take in the slight frown marring his lips, I murmur, “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be.” He grabs a white towel from the hook and wipes the steam from the mirror, his eyes meeting mine in our reflection. “Can I give you a ride to work today?”

“Yes, please.” The answer startles me as it slips past my lips. Because the old Kate would’ve lied and told him I already had a ride. The old Kate would’ve deflected. The old Kate would’ve ridden the bus instead of asking for help––from anyone, let alone the guy she’s most definitely falling for. But thanks to Mack, I’ve…changed. And it’s nice. Refreshing even. To allow myself to ask for help.

“I do need to stop by my place and grab a change of clothes, if you don’t mind,” I add. “Look at me, remembering my pills but forgetting an outfit.”
