I can’t wait to see you. Thank you again for agreeing to give me another chance.

Dad

I promise we won’t talk about money.

Dad

I know you said coffee at 3 pm, but I’ve booked us a table at that new Indian over on fifth avenue for five tomorrow night. I hope you can come.

Dad

Call me kid. Let me know you got the messages.

Dad

I’m worried it’s been four hours. Did you get my messages?

Dad

Is he stopping you from seeing me again?

Dad

Isabella. Tell me you haven’t changed your mind.

Dad

I really want us to have a relationship. Please don’t bail.

Dad

Bella. Pick up the phone. I’m really worried. Please tell me he isn’t keeping you from replying. You’re my daughter. Stop letting him control you.

I’m fucking livid. I can’t believe she’s agreed to meet him and hasn’t told me. So much for her agreeing to keep me in the loop, I can’t believe she’s hiding it from me. I hear her coming down the stairs. I try to regulate my breathing, trying to calm my rage. But I can’t.

She comes up behind me wrapping her arms around my chest. I feel her warm cheek rest on my back. “Morning baby. I am so sore today. But good sore. Are you ok?”

I take a heavy breath, then unpeel her arms from around me and take a step away from her. She steps around in front of me placing a hand on my chest, “baby, what is it? Talk to me?”

I scoff taking another couple of steps away from her. My rage is building by the second. I’m so angry at her. But I’m just as angry at her Dad, for trying to push his way and for asking if I’m the one keeping her away. Implying I’m controlling her.

“Killian? Please talk to me, you’re scaring me.”

“Talk to you Bella really? That’s a fucking joke right?” She goes to take a step toward me, but I shake my head at her and take another step back. “Don’t Bell’s. Don’t come any closer. I’m so fucking angry right now I don’t want to be near you.”

She furrows her brow in confusion, then she sees her phone on the counter next to her coffee mug. Grabbing the mug, she takes a second, and then I see it. The moment her features switch from confusion, to hurt, then to anger. “You looked at my phone? How dare you.”

“How dare I? Your phone has been ringing off the hook since I came downstairs this morning. I thought there may have been something wrong, that a client needed you. So I grabbed it to bring up with a cup of coffee for you when the caller ID caught my eye. It rang off then rang again right away… same person. He’s pretty fucking desperate to get hold of you.”

She walks around to the sink and pours her coffee down the drain, dropping her cup in the sink before turning to face me again. “Killian, I…”

“No Bell’s. Whatever you’re about to say don’t bother. After I saw who was calling, I went through your phone and saw all the messages between you both. I saw that you agreed to meet him for coffee tomorrow. After you said you wouldn’t. But you know what bothers me the most? Is that you promised to talk to me about it. You promised you would tell me, that you wouldn’t hide it from me…”

“I was going to tell you after I had seen him. I can’t believe you went through my phone. Do you not trust me? You are fucking unbelievable.” She yells at me across my kitchen. Her face a mask of anger and pain. I hate fighting with her and all I want to do is hold her right now, but I can’t.

“I’m unbelievable? You promised me. You fucking promised me that you would tell me right away, not after the fucking event. You are knowingly placing yourself in danger by hiding this from m…”

“My Dad isn’t a fucking threat Killian. I’m in no danger from him. I can’t believe you would say that.”
