I’m pouring us all another drink a little while later when Alex walks into the kitchen.

“We’re gonna order in. Cara wants pizza, tacos, and Chinese. That girl can eat. I want Chinese, Mary wants pizza Nora wants Tacos and Chinese and the kids are all in bed. What do you want?”

I laugh as she unlocks her phone ready to place the orders. “Erm, I want taco’s and Chinese.”

“Cool, I’ll go order then get Roger to go collect it.”

“Wait Alex. Before you go, I have a question to ask.”

She walks back over to me grabbing her glass and taking a sip of her wine, “hit me, what do you need?”

I’m so nervous, I think she’ll say yes but there’s a part of me that is worried she might say no. “Will you be my maid of honour?”

She stares at me for several seconds and I internally start to panic, taking a large gulp of wine I place the empty bottle on the side, “I’m sorry. Forget I asked, it was…’

“Yes. Holy shit Bella yes. Are you sure you want me to be your maid of honour?”

“Oh God, you scared me. Yes, I’m sure. I love all of you girls but you’re my best friend. I want you by my side when I stand at that alter.”

She launches herself at me, wrapping her arms around me. “I’m so honoured that you asked me. I can’t wait.”

We drank way too much wine last night. I passed out on the sofa around eleven and woke up in bed around three. My mouth was dry, and my stomach was churning, but I wasn’t alone. Killian was asleep next to me, his arms wrapped around me like a vice. I’d tried to move but his grip tightened. I fell back asleep a few minutes later and woke to him waving a coffee under my nose around eight.

I sit on the sofa in the bridal shop drinking another black coffee while the girls try on their dresses. I already have mine. The woman who works here is already making the alterations it needs to fit me.

“Aunt Bella. I’m coming out now.”

“Ok princess. I’m ready.” When I told her what we were doing today she asked if she could pick out her own dress. I had something in mind for her, but because she was so excited, I said yes. And there’s a part of me that doesn’t care what it looks like or what colour it is. If she loves, it she can have it.

I look up as she comes running out of the changing room, with Liv hot on her heels. I smile as she comes to a dead stop in front of me. “Do you like it Aunt Bella?”

“You tell me if you like it.”

“I love it, but only if you do.” She looks at me, a look of hope in her eyes. I look up and Liv and smile seeing the grin on her face. “Did you help her choose?”

“Nope.” She shakes her head, “that was all her.”

“Mommy? Aunt Bella?” Maddie looks between us, worry covering her face. I gesture for her to come toward me. “I love it. It’s perfect.” She looks down at her yellow satin dress, a white ribbon tied around the middle and white flat sandals.

I look up at Liv and she gives me a nod knowing what I’m about to ask. I pull Maddie closer to me, cupping her face. “So, I have a big question I’d like to ask.”

“Ok.” She looks at me curiously.

“I’d love for you to be my flower girl tomorrow. What do you say?”

Her mouth drops open in surprise, then she grins throwing herself at me. “Yes, Aunty Bella. I want to be your flower girl.”

Once we all have our dresses, we spend the rest of the day shopping before heading back for a girl’s dinner at Mary’s. The guys all went to Killian’s after Mary kicked them out. She told Killian and I that we weren’t allowed to see each other the night before the wedding.

I stand in front of the mirror in the back room of the church and run my hand over my dress. The silhouette has a hugging fit with thin straps and the dress flares at the bottom, pearlescent lace covers the entire dress. A plunging V neckline shows off my ample cleavage and the open back comes to a point just above my tailbone. My hair is curled and styled into a bun, with loose waves framing my face, a gold crystal flower hair piece is wrapped around the bun.

I turn to face the women; they all seem happy. “Can you guys stop talking for just a minute.” They all turn to face me. I walk over to my bag in the corner and pull out five small little boxes handing them to each of the women. Mary gives me a smile. She knows what’s in them, she helped me pick them out.

“I want to thank you all, for being in my life. The last few years have been a pretty rough ride for us all. But I couldn’t imagine going through it without you. I’m so grateful to have you all with me today. You ladies are the family I choose, I love you all so much. Now open the damn boxes will ya.”
