Did I even want to go to a dance surrounded by people I didn’t like? “I don’t have a dress.”
“I can help with that,” he said.
I cocked my head, knowing there was more to his sudden urge to go to the prom with me. “Why do you really want to go?”
He smirked. “Because the hottest guy should always go with the hottest girl.”
“Smooth,” I said, not buying it. “Now tell me the truth.”
“Well, I think we should probably wait until prom night to have sex. But, if you want to skip prom altogether, then I’m all for it. I just figured actually going was part of the whole lead up to sex.”
Laughter burst out of me. “You’re kidding, right?”
He feigned hurt. “Why would I be kidding? Four days is a long time to wait.”
“You’re crazy.”
“Never claimed not to be.”
I shook my head, never surprised by anything Seren said or did.
“But seriously. Don’t tell me you haven’t thought about it?” he said.
“Prom?”
He leveled me with his eyes, shaking his head slowly. He had smoldering down to a science.
“Nope,” I said.
His knowing smirk told me he knew I was lying. “So, you’re telling me you’ve never thought about me naked?”
“Never.”
He lifted his brows, seemingly surprised by my honesty. “Me on top of you?”
“Sorry.”
His voice deepened. “Inside of you?”
I swallowed hard. He was a lot better at this game than I was.
He smiled. “I knew it.”
“We were talking about prom,” I said, redirecting our conversation. “And I know why you really want to go.”
“I just told you,” he said.
“You want to rub us in Kiki’s face,” I said.
“Everyone’sface,” he amended.
“Why?”
“Because there’s nothing sweeter than making followers look pathetic for following. They didn’t like you because they thoughtIdidn’t like you. How are they gonna feel when they see Imorethan like you?”
My belly dipped at his assertion.
