“I definitely will not forget dinner.” Danny winked

They talked for a while longer about safety issues and the possibility it could be related to a case, although Danny was not working on any cases specifically, just logging evidence and confiscating items from other officers' cases. He explained to Parc that he was the office grunt until such time the Sergeant saw fit to change his assignment.

"Sgt. Jeffers controls your career." Parc did not like the sound of that. Zeke had done some background on Jeffers and found some questionable actions. He'd never been charged with any wrongdoing, but his gray area between right and wrong showed itself to be uncomfortably deep and wide.

"Yes, and if I'd known the kind of man he is, the kind of leader he is, I probably wouldn't have taken the transfer. But I'm here now, and leaving so soon would not look good on my record. besides, I just met a really interesting guy, and I think we might have some chemistry." He chuckled and watched as Parc stood and pulled him up from his chair and pinned him to the wall with his body.

"Oh, we have chemistry, alright, and so much more." He took Danny's lips in a scorching kiss making sure the man knew who was in charge of this aspect of their relationship. He held him flush against the wall pressing his body firmly against Danny's, feeling once again the perfection beneath the clothing, the hard planes, and fleshy curves that drove him completely crazy with want for this man.

He trailed his kiss from Danny's soft lips to his hard jaw and down the length of his gorgeous neck before wrapping him in his arms and burying his face in the crook of Danny's neck. "You feel so good in my arms, baby, so perfect." Parc dropped his right hand, cupped Danny's ass, and squeezed, and just then, the front doorbell rang.

Parc squeezed once more and then reluctantly released him. "The locksmith, I assume." He said, and Danny nodded before resting his head against Parc's chest, his disappointment evident.

"I really want you, Parc; I won't lie. You're all I think about." Danny's confession caught Parc by surprise, but it was a welcome admission.

"You're all I think about, too, Danny, and I'm glad you transferred to Cincinnati." He said and kissed him again, one quick kiss, and then stepped away. "Go take care of your security needs, then get some sleep, and I will see you tonight at seven."

"I can't wait," Danny commented lustfully as he left the kitchen. Parc left through the back door. There were a couple vampires that he needed to track down.

CHAPTER SIX

The two men he scented at Danny's place were vampires, and going by their sharp smell, they were not very far up the food chain in vampire society. They were most likely hired by someone to try and influence the cop who they discovered has a connection to Club Zephyr.

His suspicion was Vic once again since he was around the club last night not too long before Danny stopped by. Secrets were hard to keep in the paranormal world. After he found the two who broke into his mate's house, he would find Vic.

He knew where to look for the two and drove off, feeling the anger and hostility growing in his heart and mind. This was his mate, and some lowlife vampires dared to try and scare him. Parc was ready to make a very public example of them both. He put in a call to Cross, letting him know where he was and what he planned. He was pack beta, and he only answered to Cross Mercer.

"Do whatever you have to. The sooner we put them on the run, the better." Cross told him, and his permission was clear. "If you need to clean up or assistance, call."

“Thanks, I will.” He closed the call and headed to the Bushrock neighborhood, known as one of the worse areas of the city. The vampires he was looking for most certainly called that place home. Their scent told him exactly where they lived. It was the Neon, a dive bar with rooms out back and overhead that were rented out to lowlifes like those two.

He drove straight to the Neon bar. There was no sense in starting anywhere else. It was the heart of the Bushrock business world. This was the place to start if Dominion or Vic were looking to hire scum.

He parked out front and made eye contact with everyone lounging or standing nearby, making sure they understood he saw them, and if his car was touched, they too would be touched, and that was as promised. No one questioned or maintained his eye contact, so the message was received.

He walked inside, and it hadn't changed at all since the last time he visited, which had been months ago. It was still a dim lit shabby shit hole. He glanced around the room, and several took the opportunity to leave while others watched and waited. Parc walked up to the bar and garnered the bartender's attention by grabbing his throat and nearly dragging him over the bar.

"I'm looking for two vampires that broke into a house on the east side. They smell like death and are working for Dominion out of Columbus." He guessed on the last part, but the way the man's eyes widened, he knew he had hit it right.

"I . . . I don't know what you're . . ." He began, and Parc cut him off before he could finish tightening his grip on the man's throat until his eyes began to bulge.

"Tell me what you know," Parc spoke slowly and succinctly.

"They're in the back. They saw you coming and ducked into the black room." With that, Parc dropped the bartender and raced through to the black room. He understood the term. It wasn't any of the apartments. It was a room directly behind the main room used to hide and to observe the main room. They would know the bartender had given them up and would be trying to make their way out the back door.

They were fast, but Parc caught them in the hallway just before they reached the back door. Those in the area vacated immediately, not wanting to be a part of what was obviously going down. The wolf was half-shifted, and the vampires were turning to fight, so it was going to be violent and bloody.

Parc grabbed one by the back of the neck and threw him to the right slamming his face against the stone wall while hitting the other with a backhand to the side of his head, flipping him onto his ass. They're vampires, so they recovered quickly, coming at Parc in a combined effort, but they were no match for the enraged black wolf. Parc tore into them, not giving them a second to breathe or react. The fight was brutal, with Parc tearing into their flesh and repeatedly slamming them around the narrow space.

He was furious that these two would have the nerve to invade the space of his mate with the intention of intimidating, scaring, and whatever else they may have planned. Danny was his to love and to protect, and if that meant freeing the world of these two scum bags, then so be it.

They continued to fight, and one was armed with a short blade. Parc roared and sunk his teeth into the forearm of the vampire that attempted to open his throat with the short blade. The vampire fell to the floor and stayed there. He wasn't unconscious but signaling that he was done fighting. The other took another run at Parc with fangs and claws at the ready but missed and ended with his head through the bathroom door. He was no longer moving.

Parc walked over to the one on the floor and bent down beside him. "Who hired you to break into Danny Atwater's home?" He wanted answers. The vampire glanced around nervously, but the look on Parc's face made it clear he would not tolerate games.

“A cop.” He said softly, began trying to sit up, but Parc pushed him back onto the floor.

“Name.”
