“Do you believe them?”

"Yes." Danny didn't sense any duplicity from the men he interviewed, not that he was an expert on reading people, but they seemed honest enough, and there was no reason not to believe them. No evidence was found, and the caller had not stuck around. Anonymous complaints were usually weak and especially a series of anonymous complaints, which was what they were apparently dealing with.

Jeffers was acting unsure of himself, which was not his usual, and Danny wasn't sure what he wanted. He'd spoken of rewriting his report in more detail but so far had not requested that again.

"Okay." He finally said and released Danny. He was on desk duty again, answering phones and making coffee. This had been his life for the past eight months, and he wondered when he was going to be trusted to work outside of the station.

When he was settled at his desk, his mind instantly wandered to his coffee date. Parc Kingsley made his blood burn, and his mind turned to lascivious imaginings. He then remembered that Parc had mentioned someone by the name of Victory Storm. He noticed Sargent Jeffers walking through the room and called out to him.

“Have you ever heard the name Victory Storm?” He asked. His Sargent thought for a moment and then shook his head.

"No, I haven't, and it's unique enough that I'm sure I would remember." He said, then added. "Why?"

"It's a name I heard related to the anonymous complaints coming in this month regarding Club Zephyr, the Underground Lounge, and Club Disconnect." Danny threw out the speculation to see where it might go.

“Was it from a credible source?”

“Maybe, I don’t know.”

"I'll look into it." With that, the Sargent walked into his office and closed the door, effectively shutting Danny down. There wasn't much more he could do now that the Sargent had verbally taken over, but he could add the information about Storm to his incident report from last night.

CHAPTER FOUR

Parc served up the drinks with his usual flair and friendliness but with a subtle reserve. He was no longer interested in anyone who came to his bar, no matter their charm or offerings. He only had eyes for Officer Danny Atwater, his mate, and his soon-to-be lover.

Danny was a smart and handsome man, and he belonged to Parc's body and soul. He was the mate of the wolf, and soon he would understand what that meant. They would share a lifetime of love and loyalty through the bond of their souls.

It was nearing nine, and he just couldn't wait another minute without hearing his mate's voice. Distance and separation were difficult for both him and his wolf. He considered calling him at work and finally made the decision that if Danny couldn't answer, he wouldn't. He went ahead and walked back into the back hall to make his call, and to his delight, it was picked up immediately.

"Hello." The one word set Parc's heart racing with the need to have his mate close. This slow-walking their connection was playing havoc with his ability to stay sane. He wanted his mate, but he didn't want to scare him off.

"Hello, love. Can you talk?" He didn't want to overstep.

“Yes, I’m on my own here at the moment.” God, he loved this man’s voice and the sweetness laced throughout.

"Is there any chance that you might get a break and be able to stop by? I'd really like to see you. I'd come to you, but that might prove to be a little awkward." He was asking big, and he knew it, but he had hope. It wasn't like he could go see him. The police station was not a place you visited socially.

“I have a break at twelve-thirty.” Danny teased.

“Does that mean you will stop by?” Parc played along.

“Maybe.”

"Don't make me beg, baby." Parc loved the banter. His mate could be playful.

"Okay, I'd love to see you too." His ease and the fact his confession came easily indicated their relationship was growing.

“I’ll meet you at the back entrance.”

“I’m looking forward to it.”

“Me too, baby.” Parc closed the call and headed back to the bar. He kept his eye on the clock wishing twelve-thirty would hurry up. It was nice to know that Danny was eager to see him. Waiting until tomorrow evening would have been too brutal.

"You're looking quite content," Autry commented. "Do you have plans for later?" He bounced his eyebrows provocatively.

"My mate is meeting later." Parc couldn't contain his excitement over his mate and the fact that the man was a dream. "He has a break at twelve-thirty, and he's stopping by." He usually wasn't so chatty about his personal business, but Danny just made him giddy, and besides, Autry loved it when people were happy in love. Ever since bonding with Cross, he decided that everyone needed to find their true love.

"That's so sweet," Autry said with not a shred of sarcasm. "I can't wait to meet him. It will be soon, I hope."
