“Thank you,” they said in unison.

“You’re welcome.” The bartender retreated just as the bikers’ argument escalated.

The air in the bar grew tense as the bikers’ disagreement turned into a full-blown fight. Bottles were smashed, chairs were toppled over, and people screamed and shouted as the chaos escalated.

Langston and Lisa watched—Langston, with a dark scowl on his face, and Lisa, her mouth open in horror as the brawl spilled over into their corner of the room.

Without hesitation, Langston stood up and grabbed Lisa’s hand, pulling her toward the exit. But just as they were about to leave, one of the bikers stumbled over to them, his eyes bloodshot and unfocused.

“You two...you’re coming with me,” he slurred, grabbing Lisa’s arm and pulling her toward him.

Langston launched himself at the biker with a powerful punch that sent the man back to the floor. One of his friends stepped up to defend him, and the power in Langston’s fists met his face in a combo that sent him down with his friend.

Another guy approached, then another, and soon, heads were being smashed on the bar, guts were punched, and when Langston turned to deal with the last guy, he paused, surprised to see Lisa smashing a beer bottle over his head.

The man fell to his knees and then dropped to the floor, unconscious.

Langston grabbed her hand, and they left quickly, jumping in his sports car, peeling away from the bar, and leaving the chaos behind them.

They drove in silence for a few moments, catching their breaths and taking in the adrenaline-filled experience they had just gone through.

“I can’t believe that just happened,” Lisa finally said. “I’m sorry, I... should’ve known better than to take you to that place.”

Langston glanced at her, a smirk on his face.

Her brows dipped in confusion. “Are you smiling?”

Laughter shot from his lips. “First, are you okay?”

Nervous laughter spilled from her. “Yeah. Are you?”

“I’m fine, I’m just...”

“Just what?”

“A little aroused by you saving me back there.”

Lisa pursed her lips. “I hardly saved you.”

“But you did. My back was turned, and you laid that dude out.” His laugh elevated. “Damn. I got my own personal Angelina Jolie.”

Their laughter grew louder as they reached the outskirts of town, the bright lights of a new world surrounded them, and they both felt the possibilities of the night.

Langston reached across the console to take Lisa’s hand. “I’m glad that you’re here.”

“Me too,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

They smiled at each other. “You must be ready to end this night now,” Lisa said.

“Actually, there’s another place you may not know about. If you care to humor me, I’d like to take you there.”

Her brows rose. “Another adventure with you. How could I resist?”

He pinched her chin. “Say less.”
