Page 3 of Dying Without You

“How do you know?”

“Because I believe in you.”

The two stared at each other. “Let’s try it now. And if it doesn’t work, as I said, I have other suggestions.”

Langston’s face scrunched up, and he thought about it for a minute. “All right,” he agreed. “Let’s try it.”

Malcolm nodded. “Okay, Langston, take a few slow, deep breaths in and out…in and out. That’s it. A little deeper, if you can. That’s it. Now, imagine a meadow. There’s a sunny blue sky, and the air is crisp, cool, and fresh. Can you see it?”

Langston nodded, his gaze zoning out.

“Now, let the movie direct you.” Malcolm paused and watched Langston as Langston followed his instructions. “What do you see?”

“OOOOOH! – Fuck!”

Images of Lisa assaulted him as the scenery changed. Her back was against the wall, him holding her with a firm grip—plunging in and out of her pussy, his body filled with pleasure. Heat wrapped around his skin, his pulse racing, animation in his veins, his strokes powerful.

Quickly, Langston opened his eyes, and Malcolm watched him with a smirk.

“What happened?”

“You fell asleep.”

Langston frowned. “Is this some sort of joke?”

“Check your watch.”

Langston glanced down at his Rolex and noticed thirty minutes had passed when it had only felt like a few seconds.

Langston’s eyes shot back up to Malcolm. “How is that possible?”

“It’s dream visualization. Your mind was busy, but your body was relaxed, so you were able to welcome the sleep.”

“No, I mean that the dream wasn’t a dream. It was a memory.”

“Hmmm. Are you sure? That’s not uncommon. The subconscious mind is powerful enough to make you feel like you’re experiencing something again.”

“No, I feel like I was actually there,” Langston insisted. “It was like I was making love to her.”

“Who? Destiny?”

“No. Someone else.” Langston licked his lips, filled with the remembrance of the taste of her lips—sweet, soft, indulgent. “Lisa.”

“So, in a way, you were making love to her. Perhaps you should follow up with Lisa if that’s a possibility.”

Langston’s mind kicked back into gear. “That’s an unreasonable request.”

“Why?”

“Because we barely know each other.”

“But you are acquainted. That’s good enough.”

“Good enough for me to call her up to fuck?”

Malcolm smirked. “You never know what could come of the conversation.”

“No.”
