Nash smirks. “Yeah, did it work?”

Tahlee groans. “Mm.. yes, for some reason it did. Okay, I will do this blindfolded, blind date, on one condition?”

We all stare, waiting for her to continue, but Dane is the first one to break. “Well, spit it out.”

Tahlee turns to Cleo. “You have to come with me for moral support, seeing as all the other girls are taken.”

Paisley purses her lips. “Hell, I’ll come, just for the fun and free food.”

Lucas scowls at her. “Of course you would, but no. You’re not going to blind date another man for free food.”

Paisley chuckles. “But it’s notjustfree food. It’s Tahlee’s food.”

Lucas glares at her, and she pokes out her bottom lip. “Fine, make sense and all that.”

“I’ll give you something to eat if you’re that hungry,” Lucas chimes, waggling his brows, and we all roll our eyes as Paisley glances from him to Tahlee and back to him.

“But it’s Tahlee’s food!” she whines.

We all snort out a laugh.

“I’m so glad you enjoy it, Paise. You can come by the restaurant any time,” Tahlee states.

Paisley smiles wide, seemingly satisfied now.

Tahlee turns back to Cleo and tilts her head. “So, are we doing this?”

Cleo groans. “I don’t need this, but you do, so yes. I am going on a blind date at your restaurant.”

Dane snickers. “This I will pay to see. Can you sign me up!”

Tahlee almost chokes on thin air. “No! I’m not subjecting my customers to you.”

Dane tilts his head matter-of-factly. “That’s fair. I’m still coming to watch this, though.”

I pull Zoey to me, leaning in and kissing the side of her head. Watching these three chatting about their single life has me so grateful that I’m past that now. I have all I could ever want.

Zoey is laughing at the antics unfolding around us. Her laugh is so damn angelic it makes my heart soar. My Hailee is sitting with Jackson as they play together on the iPad. She’s showing him something or other, but she’s the most amazing stepdaughter I could have ever dreamed of.

When this all started, I never saw it turning out like this—me in love and so fucking lucky that Hailee is accepting of me as a father role in her life. And Kyle taking a big enough step back that he is only in our lives one weekend a month. Kyle now lives his dropkick life separate from ours, which we are more than happy about while we get to live ours together as a happy little family.

Me, my two girls, and our two maniac cats.

As Tahlee continues to panic about her upcoming blind date, I can’t help but be thankful I stepped out into the foyer that day and pretended to be dating Zoey.

Sometimes a little white lie can turn into the best decision of your life.

I like to think it was fateful.

The fact I had to leave Harrington Business Partners and come to work for the guy I had wronged—multiple times—has greatly impacted not only my future but Nash and Brianna’s, and of course, Zoey’s and Hailee’s.

Honestly, if it wasn’t for Kyle being a douche, I may never have had the balls to be the man I needed to be and step up for Zoey. So even though Kyle is a dick of epic proportions, I do have something to thank him for. And despite him, I got the girl, I got the kid, I got the family I didn’t know I wanted or needed, and I couldn’t be happier if I tried.

Zoey giggles beside me as I simply stare at her. She looks at me, and I lean in against her ear. “I fucking love you.”

She smiles, leans up on her toes, and presses a light kiss to my cheek. “I wanted to wait until we got home to tell you this, but you look so happy, and I don’t think I can wait.”

I narrow my eyes on her, and she leans against my ear, whispering, “Blake… I’m pregnant.”
