Zoey widens her eyes, looking slightly shocked, then dips her head. “Okay… deal.”

Jumping out of the car, I walk around, opening the passenger door. She slides out, her face flushed from the excitement of the moment. It’s so cute working her up like this. I close the door behind her and place my hand on her lower back. “Let’s go find out Nash’s big news.”

She beams in anticipation. “I’m so excited I even got invited to this tonight. I feel like I’m becoming a part of the group.”

We walk toward the opening of Revel Rose.

“Youarea part of the group, Zoey. I think we didn’t invite you before because it was a Nash’s friends from college thing, but now they’re inviting more people, and it’s become more of a work gathering, so we like having you come along.”

“Well, I am glad to be invited.”

As we walk through, I give a courteous wave to Marcel, the bar owner, and head to the entertaining area, where some of the group is already gathered in our usual spot. Paisley and Lucas are sitting by the stairs with Jackson on Lucas’ lap. The sixteen-month-old is playing with Lucas’ tie as he tries to drink a beer.

Paisley and Tahlee are sitting next to each other, talking. Dane and Asher are playing on their cells while Cleo is up at the bar getting drinks.

The notable missing is Nash and Brianna and, of course, Cade. He’s always missing.

We take a few steps down into the area, and Lucas looks up, spotting us first. He notices me leading Zoey down and smirks while giving me a head bob. “Hey, you’re joint head honcho with Nash. You got any idea what this is all about?”

I do.

But I’ve been sworn to secrecy by Brianna.

“Not a damn clue. If it’s something to do with the business, I’m as much in the dark as you are.”

Lucas snorts. “Well, that makes me feel better. At least I’m not being shafted again.”

“You know we keep you up-to-date with everything, Lucas. We don’t hold anything back from you.”

He grins. “I know, I’m only messing with you. But whatever this is, it must be big if they’re getting us together like this.”

It is.

“Yeah, I’m sure they’ll arrive soon.”

“I’m glad you could make it, Zoey. How’s that cute little girl of yours?” Paisley asks.

Zoey’s muscles instantly relax as she takes a seat. “She’s amazing. Hailee’s at home with her father tonight, so that will be interesting to go home to.”

I raise my brow in response because Lord knows Kyle changes his moods like a damn light switch. My only hope is that, for Hailee’s sake, he stays in a good mood for her tonight.

“Her father? That was the guy who showed up here last time, wasn’t it?” Lucas asks.

Zoey nods. “That’s him.”

“Mm…” Lucas replies, glancing at me like he already knows I hate Kyle. “Seems like a great guy,” Lucas mocks, and I try to hide my smirk.

Zoey doesn’t respond.

What can she say?

She knows it’s the truth.

Kyle is a grade-A wanker.

“I’m here! Did y’all miss me?” a shrill voice chimes from the top of the stairs.
