Cleo stands and lets out a sigh. “I’ll go find him. Don’t announce anything until I get back.”
Paisley slumps her shoulders. “Do you think you can whisper it into my ear, just a little bit, to put me out of my misery?”
Brianna chuckles. “Trust me… you’re gonna be happy.”
Paisley seems to relax at that news as Cleo walks back with Cade in tow, and we all cheer.
Dane throws a beer bottle cap at him. “The prodigal son returns. Where the fuck were you?”
“Just making a call,” Cade replies as he sits beside Tahlee.
We focus back on Nash and Brianna, and Nash grabs Bri’s hand, then they look at each other. “You all know that the start of our relationship was rocky at best. Getting here has taken a lot, but we’re in a really good place. And we know now is the right time.” Nash holds up Brianna’s hand, and a huge, glistening engagement ring is on her finger.
“We’re getting married!” they say in unison.
I glance at Cam, and he back at me, both of us as confused as each other.
This isnotwhat we were expecting.
But it’s still freaking great to hear.
Paisley jumps up, letting out a loud squeal as she rushes for Brianna and pulls her into a tight embrace. “Oh. My. God… I can’t believe it. You’re going to be the most beautiful bride I have ever seen. I am so happy for you.” She sways her from side to side as Zoey looks at me with a bright smile.
“This is great news,” Zoey states cheerfully.
“It’s news, all right,” I reply as Cam steps up to my side, furrowing his brows, and leans in next to me.
“Is that what you expected them to say?” he asks.
I shake my head. “Nope, I was expecting something a little more… gestational.”
Cam chuckles. “Was she playing us?”
As everyone gathers around them, Nash lets out a whistle. “Oh, and we have one more thing to add.”
Cam and I glance at each other.
Nash places his hand on Brianna’s stomach, and he smiles wide. “We’re also having a baby.”
Paisley screams—literally screams—making us all jump from the shock. “No fucking way! You have to have a little girl so our kids can grow up and fall in love. Oh my God, Bri, this is the best newsever.”
I burst out laughing as Brianna looks right at me with a bright smile.
It’s exactly what we thought Paisley would say.
Brianna pulls Paisley to her in a tight embrace. “I love you, Paise,” Brianna says, holding her tight as the rest of us move over to Nash to congratulate them.
I shake his hand and dip my chin. “Congrats, man, doing everything all at once. It’s going to be a busy few months for you.”
He rolls his shoulders. “Yeah, when everything starts taking off, I’m going to need your help around Ensure more than ever.”
“I got you. You can count on me.”
He grips my shoulder, glancing past me to Zoey. “Thank you for coming, Zoey. It means a lot to me that you’re here for this announcement.”
“Thank you for inviting me, Mr. Harrington. I am so happy for you and Brianna. Being a parent is the best feeling in the world. You guys are going to be great at it.”
“Thanks, Zoey. And I hope that everything with you and your ex goes smoothly, with Blake’s help.”
