He kissed my neck, my back, and wrapped his arms around me from behind. “I want you to be mine,” he said, breath against my ear. “Tell me you’re really mine.”

I was. It was scary and amazing at the same time. “I’m yours. I want…God, Marcus. I want to be your boyfriend.” Somehow the word sounded too small, though, like it wasn’t enough for what Marcus meant to me.

“Okay,” he said as if it was just that easy. He kissed my neck again. “I want that too.”

“What about the rest of it?”

“We’ll figure it out.” Marcus pulled a towel out of thin air. Logically, he must have thought ahead and brought it with him. He cleaned me up, then my cum off the desk. Next, he pulled my underwear up, then my jeans, zipping and buttoning them for me. “I know you don’t need it, but I still like to take care of you.”

He did. That was just who he was. “I’m not complaining…most of the time. I just can’t depend on you.” Translation: that’s what Atlanta was.

Marcus nodded.

“Can I tell everyone you’re my boyfriend?”

“No.”

“Okay, just Declan. And also Corbin because he called it this morning, which means we have to tell Parker. That automatically includes Sebastian and Elliott and—oh.” He shut me up with his lips, tongue in my mouth like he owned me.

“Yes,” Marcus said when he pulled away. “You know this is a fucking disaster waiting to happen, right?”

“So romantic.”

“That’s why I’m The Realist.”

And maybe it was strange, but I loved him for it.

Chapter Twenty-Five

Marcus

“So…how’s it feel having an official boyfriend?” Corbin asked in our next episode of The Vers.

“If you expect me to act a fool because you said that, you’re gonna be waiting a long-ass time. I’m not Declan.” I’d mentioned to them that Kai and I were together, then promptly started recording. Now I wasn’t so sure that had been a smart plan.

“Hey!” Dec said. “What the fuck? How did I get pulled into this?”

Parker chimed in, “I agree that Marcus is being surprisingly chill about opening his heart and getting serious with another person for the first time.”

“Especially because we know emotions and feelings aren’t his favorite thing,” Corb added. “I wonder if he provided Kai with a list of all the pros and cons of being in a relationship and then made two little squares at the bottom for him to check yes or no.”

Oh fuck. Why had I even told them? But considering Kai, Elliott, and Sebastian were all waiting for us in the living room and this would be the first time we were all together since Kai and I had become official, I really didn’t have much choice.

Or time to have a boyfriend… From the looks of things, he would be leaving in about three weeks, which was a week longer than we’d thought, but that was nowhere near enough.

“You’re an idiot,” I told Corbin.

“So you’ve told me eleven thousand times. I’m just saying, listeners, if you saw Marcus with his boyfriend, you’d be surprised too. He’s so doting.”

“I am not,” I lied because I fucking was, and we all knew that shit.

“Oh my God, right?” Park asked. “It’s so sweet.”

“But then his voice gets deep and basically the verbal version of sex, and he’s like…Come here, baby boy, and give me that hole.” Corbin waggled his brows.

“Jesus fucking Christ.” I rubbed a hand over my face. “Why do I put up with you? And I can promise you, my ass has never said that in front of you.”

“In front of you!” Parker shouted. “But you have said it. You heard it here first, Vers listeners.”

I groaned, then shot a glance at Declan. “Why aren’t you on my side here?”

He held up his hands. “Hey, don’t look at me to save you. I’m still pissed about that I’m-not-Declan comment.”

Fuck my life. “We’re not talking about this anymore.”

“We should invite Kai on the show,” Declan said.

I gave him the finger. “I’m not playing this game with you guys.” But I was and they knew it. Unfortunately, like Kai, they could get me to do anything.

“Okay, let’s get serious for a minute,” Parker interrupted, and by serious, I knew he meant he was going to say something from the heart. That was our Parker. “I know we joke around and tease each other a lot, but I just want to say how good it feels to be happy…and to see you guys happy. Sebastian is great, and I’m so happy Declan has him. Kai is incredible too, and he’s the perfect match for Marcus.” Except for the fact that he was leaving and we were going to have to be long-distance. But what was the alternative? I couldn’t leave, and I could never expect Kai to stay for me. “And Elliott is the definition of sexy and the best husband ever.”
