Three demons got into me last night

I’m not so sure I want them to leave…

Serving my church, helping the congregation, and being there for everyone are what I’m meant to do. Valley Hope gave me a new lease on life. A reason to keep going. So, I’ll stay here until the day I die returning the favor to everyone around me.

At least that’s what I think until they show up. Three MC club men slam into my door drenched, demanding and injured. I do what any good christian would. I patch up their president and then I try to get as far away from them as I possibly can.

But Christian, Grimm, and Hyde won’t let me go. They tease me in the dark. Taunt me when I’m in their arms. And tempt me to fall into such wicked desires I will never be the same…

CHAPTER ONE

The rain wasn’t letting up. I stared out the window, watching as it poured down in sheets of freezing cold water. The only thing I wanted was to get out of Valley Hope and into a warm bath before curling up with my cat.

A loud creak made me turn on my heels. I saw nothing, but my heart hammered all the same. My eyes scanned the church, looking for something, anything to explain why the hair on the back of my neck stood on end.

It’s been a long day, there’s a storm, and I’m exhausted. Nothing sinister is going on. Come on, just a little while longer.

As much as I wanted to go home, I wasn’t willing to risk it. The path to my house was down a dirt road, one that was no doubt washed out and flooded by now. If I went up there, the chance that I would get stuck or washed away was substantial. I fiddled with the cross on my chest, twisting it around as I stared outside.

Hope Missy’s okay. I just want to get home to her.

I sighed. No matter how much I wished to go home, it was looking more and more like I was going to be trapped for the night. I should have gone when my congregation had, but I wanted to stick around and clean some things up. Get started on my next sermon. That was a mistake.

“Guess I’m sleeping in my office.”

My heels tapped across the floor, echoing in the empty church. A bolt of lightning cut through the sky, making me yelp as the room was plunged into pitch blackness. My heart hammered in my chest, hands waving in front of me as I sought out my phone.
