I looked at him with huge eyes. This was probably the first time he shared something so intimate with me. Maybe it was the first time he seemed somewhat genuine talking to me. It didn’t melt me off, but I also didn’t want to be snotty after that. I knew Gabriele would never trust him more than Roberto, but there was no need to push that into his face after his admittance.

I decided to be sweet to him since he had been sweet to me even though I had no intention of betraying Antonio. “If something important happens, I’ll tell you, okay?”

He nodded in silence and, this time, let me close the door.

I felt so weird inside. It was not like any of our conversations in the past. I didn’t like the feeling it gave me. So, I decided to put my mind to something else and texted Antonio.

Priscilla: I got my dress today!!!!!

He was not big on texting, and he also didn’t like unannounced calls, but he always answered my texts quickly. He also never left me unanswered. I liked that he did that because it made me happy.

As always, the answer came quickly.

Antonio: I am sure you look very charming in it.

He was a little weird, and some people might find it annoying. I found it cute.

Priscilla: I look STUNNING!!!

Antonio: Want to send me a picture?

I literally gasped out loud at the question. What the fuck?

Priscilla: Antonio you can’t see the bride in her dress before the wedding. It is bad luck. Do you want us to have bad luck???

Antonio: It is a superstition, Priscilla. They made up that because people were afraid in arranged marriages if the groom would see the bride before he would change his mind. I have no intention of changing my mind about marrying you.

Damn, he was cute. He was cute to me even when he was not trying to be. Kira and Beatrice thought I was crazy for being attracted to a man like this, but they just didn’t get it. For me, he was perfect. I was able to see under his ice.

Still, there was no way he was seeing me in my dress before the wedding. Even if it was just a superstition, I still wanted him to see me in it for the first time at the wedding. I wanted to blow his mind.

I typed a quick message.

Priscilla: I don’t care, you are waiting until the wedding.

His text came quickly as well.

Antonio: Whatever makes you happy.

I smiled dumbly at the text. Whatever makes me happy.

Antonio was making me really happy. Even now.

Chapter 11

Antonio

“Remind me again why we are leaving early?” Alessio asked from his spot in the car.

I thought it was rather quite late to ask that question. We were on our way to the plane. He knew why we were leaving early.

I still answered because otherwise, he was going to bother me more. “Because Priscilla invited Isabella and Mia to her bachelorette party, and they wanted to go.”

Salvatore was staying back with my father in Chicago since it was not a good idea for us all to leave for this long. Alessio wanted to accompany me. The remaining of our family was going to come on the day of the wedding.

“And where is the bachelorette party?” Alessio asked.

So, that was his problem.
