“Hey.”

Jonah held the door open for her to enter if she wanted. She declined and went straight to her apology, telling him she was angry and a little worked up that day, hence the unnecessary insults.

“It's okay, ma'am. I’m sorry about what happened with your niece too. But I am ready to take care of the child, so you don’t have to be worried about it. I just want to be with Claire for the rest of my life.” Jonah reassured her

As my aunt recounted all they talked about, I wished I was there to see his reaction while she apologized. It would have been gold, and would also make for a good laugh. But I wasn’t there. I only got told about what happened when she came back. He had apologized to her also and promised to do better. It was nice to know because I never wanted my husband to not be on good terms with my aunty whom I loved so much.

I made up my mind to see him the next day after my aunt narrated how she apologized to him. She had been in awe of him while they spoke and she thought her niece had truly found a perfect guy to be with.

The following day was a Saturday, so Will was at home with his Dad. Impatient, I had woken up too early just to see Jonah. But he wasn’t outside yet. When I got out of the house, I saw Will watering the grass instead. He was glad about what he was doing, obviously and he didn’t seem to want any distractions. I heard the door creak and then I saw Jonah come out of his door. He saw me and waved happily, and soon, he was already down with me and Will, chattering happily with us.

“Will, so this is Claire. I’m sure you know her already, but you don’t know what I am about to tell you.” Jonah begin

Will's face creased into a frown. Unfortunately, he didn’t know what to say and wasn’t one for surprises either. If not for the fact that it was his daddy talking to him, he would not have any interest whatsoever.

“Will?”

"Yes, Dad?" He looked curious, and cute.

"You're going to be having a sibling soon!" Jonah blurted out finally.

Will’s eyes widened, a smile slowly spreading across his face. "Really? That's so cool!"

Jonah chuckled, relieved that his son seemed to be taking the news so well. "Yeah, it is pretty cool, isn't it? But it's also a big responsibility. You're going to be a big brother, which means you'll have to help take care of the baby and be a good role model."

He nodded eagerly and ran into Jonah’s arms to celebrate. "I will, Dad. I promise. I'll be the best big brother ever!"

Jonah ruffled his son's hair, feeling a sense of pride and excitement for what was to come. "I have no doubt that you will be, kiddo. And I know you're going to love having a sibling to play with and grow up with."

“Yes Dad. So who’s the mother of the baby?” Will asked, curious.

I was shocked indeed. Truth is, I had not expected that question right there and then, especially when it was not our intention to tell him about us yet. I fidgeted a little bit, thinking of the best way Jonah would tell his son who is about to become his step-mom. But before he was able to say a word, the hose with which Will intended to water the surroundings burst out full of water. He was shocked and ran off to tend to it.

“Sheesh, that was close!” I said after Will had left us.

I was confused about what to say too, but somehow, life came to the rescue. That would be a story for another day. Jonah laughed

Will watered the plants, and I knew he still thought about who the mother was. I had a hunch that he already knew it’s me because it was almost obvious that it would be me. But I ignored all that anyway.

“Do you want some coffee?” Jonah offered and I was happy to leave that spot for a bit. We went inside the house and had some coffee. Jonah suggested that we went to his room to have some privacy to talk in case his son barged in on us talking. I agreed because I was not ready for any more children's questions. I just wanted to be with Jonah.

Once inside the room, Jonah locked the door. We started to talk about everything, including my aunt and my parents.

“Does your aunt still talk about the pregnancy every day?” Jonah asked and I wondered why he asked that.

“Yes, of course! I would be worried if she didn’t ask about it. It would mean she didn’t care about me and I want an aunt who does care about me!” I said happily. He was right to ask anyway. It showed he cared too, and to be honest, I only care about his affection then.

Jonah put on his music player and played a romantic tape. He started dancing like a real gentleman and although I laughed a little, I had to admit that he did look a little cute doing it. He swayed his body to the music and beckoned me to join him. I could not turn him down, obviously, and so I joined him. He placed his hands on my slightly wide hips and we started to sway to the music.

Sometimes, I wondered why Jonah never commented on my looks or body. Most men I knew always said they were in love with my looks or my figure, but not this man. Every time he looked at me, he stared right into my eyes, and although he may not have known, it weakened me down to the knees when he did that. Just like he did right then, staring me down in the eyes and making me feel dominated.

“Baby.”

“Yes?”

“I love you so much. I know I don’t say this, but I do. So I want you to know that I will always be there for you no matter what comes our way.”

I could hardly breathe under the sound of his voice. He was so manly, and I could not argue with him. I looked at him as my head and my leader, and the sex we had still sent shivers down my spine.
